Give her 3 warnings for it... i think talking back at parents with that age is not normal...is she the only child? an only child does sometimes that kind of attitude, talk to her in a nice way, try to read stories about a child who does that way and was punished in the end...... then maybe someday she would realize.

What will work is a spanking your child talks back to you then you tell them if they continue their getting a spanking if they do it after that spank them it'll stop really fast. That will be the fastest way to get rid of the behavior. I mean it asking her nicely to please stop isn't going to help, there's nothing in that statement to haver stop you're being too nice to her and giving her the benefit of the doubt she'll stop. I mean there are other punishments like time out, taking away her favorite toy (but if she's not playing with it then it doesn't make sense to take it away), sending her to her room, etc....

Children at some point find out that they are able to argue, and many of them enjoy that and like to try it out. By itself, there is nothing wrong with that, and your daughter has a right to voice her opinion. But she also has to realize that you and her father know better than her and that after you have explained things to her calmly argument has to stop. So you might tell her that when mom or dad tell her "that's that" she is expected to obey; if she doesn't she will be punished, either by a spanking (if that fits your parenting style) or by loss of TV or another toy for a while. Once your daughter has understood that you need to go through with it (I know that's the hardest part).
Good luck!

Okay, you may not want to hear this, or anyone else for that matter, but in my family, talking back was a no-no. In my family, we got spankings for that. Nothing to report to anyone, just a mild spanking clothes on. If thats not for you try taking away her priveleges. Take away her most prized possession. But do something now, as waiting until later, punishment will have no effect. Good luck.

Pick a discipline method and use it.
Don't let "Bridget" get away with that. It will get worse if you don't stop it.
If my parents just told me "Don't talk back to me". I'd be like "Or what, ****?!"
No. I knew talking back got me in trouble.

She needs an IMMEDIATE consequence. Don't argue, just sit down, and state that the next time this behavior happens, ____will occur (loss of privilege, time out (5 min.), etc.) Do this enough times and it should stop.

One warning, then take action. Calmly, politely do something besides words. You're training her to ignore your hallow threats, and she's training you to get her way. Not good.
Take control!

Just put in the chair until the buzzer goes off.
Spanking is a bad idea, as is any hitting of the child.
