I don't drink much, but when I do, i feel really sick.

I use to drink a bit last year and the year before, but then I decided it wasn't good for me and didn't drink so much.

This year I've probably only been drunk about 3 times. Once was last night. I felt horrible. I didn't have much, maybe 5 or 6 drinks from about 7pm-11pm but I felt terrible.

I have nausia, headache and just felt like crap.

It seems to happen every time.

Could there be a medical reason behind this?

Thanks.

Marijuana is disgusting and I would never go near that sh*t even if you paid me.

I don't drink much and I don't plan to drink anymore, but I would like to know if there is something wrong.

All my friends go out and have a great time and I just feel like crap. How is it a great thing? There isn't anything wrong with having a few drinks every once in a while.

My old Step Dad is an alcoholic. I know how to be responsible and I only drink when there are adults around and people that I trust. Last night there were my teachers and parents.

I'm 18, which is the legal drinking age in New Zealand. I have gluten sensitivity but I still eat a normal diet.

You probably have low levels of aldehyde dehydrogenase. It is a liver enzyme that converts acetaldehyde to acetic acid. Acetaldehyde causes the nausea, headache and other hangover effects, so if the enzyme levels are low, acetaldehyde builds up in your bloodstream.

Women typically have lower levels of this enzyme. Many Asians have very low levels of this enzyme as well.

All it means that alcohol and you don't go well together. Some people can't eat wheat gluten, or soy, or shellfish. For you, it's alcohol. Life goes on.

LOL, You could just be a lightweight. Try pacing yourself so it doesn't have the chance to run up on yo like that. After 2 drinks, have a glass of ice water, evaluate your buzz and have another drink. Then water and maybe some crackers or a sandwich. Greasy foods in the morning will help get it through your system faster, and water will keep it going too. and you to the loo. I get those same symptoms from cheap liquor, so pay for the good stuff. Boones Farm gives me instant hangover symptoms, but champagne doesn't, it makes me a giddy drunk.

Wabby if I remember right u eat gluten free right? Make sure the alcohol u are drinking is gluten free! Beer is not gluten free but there is GF beer out there.
Most distilled alcohols are fine, except those that may have had gluten added after distillination. But, u can avoid taht by only drinking clear liquor.
Some ppl also are bothered by dark rums and dark liquors bc they trigger a niacin attack. If its not a hangover, it could just be a niacin attack which is common for some ppl whend rinking dark rums and liquors with certain flavorings--which would be far worse for u if they also contain gluten.
Just a thought! :)

I don't know about a medical reason - it's possible, although I've never heard of it. But I'm sure it is a possibility. Or, as somebody already said, you could just be one of those people that doesn't metabolise alcohol well. If nothing else, you can be grateful for the money you save when you're a student and you can still afford to eat, whereas everybody else will have spent all their money on cider.

Stop Drinking , IF thats not Possible Drink More water in between two drinks, this might reduce your alcohol intake, as well neutralise the acidic nature of the stuff. If you cant do that even take two strong shots as quickies and walk out. Take care dear friend.

Perhaps you are on a prescription medication that doesn't go with alcohol.

Otherwise, you just get bad hangovers. Just stay away from alcohol. You'll be better off anyway. :)

That is all the more reason to stop drinking ;Why keep drinking if all you do is feel sick afterwards; I would go cold turkey and just quit;Mind over matter
