my argument
Being rational is having everything based on evidence and judging in a logical way.
1) lets assume God doesn't exist. A watch is a complex design and the watch has a designer.
2) All complex designs in this world has an designer except nature (assuming God doesn't exist) things such as computers, televisions, babies, my homework, and ect.
3) Nature and life is a complex design (atoms, molecules, cells, organs, and ect).
4) There is no absoulte proof of what created life. Most are all theories.
5) Judging from my limited knowledge and my own observation of intelligent works of design that I know are created by an designer, I should believe it is highly likely nature and life has a designer.
From this I believe a rational person should believe in God. If a person does not base his beliefs on experiences from his own observations and derive an answer from his current knowledge than he is irrational. This does not prove if God is good or bad.

It is not more credible just more rational, because from personal observation of all complex things having an designer it is likely that nature also have an complex designer. Being rational is different from being correct. I have never witnessed any complex item without an creator. I would logically assume nature has one too because there is no logical proof i must go on what i know and what is most likely if i am rational

Lawrence ur argument assumes God is living, I never state any characteristics of God. God would be a rock designed him for all i know. I also never state God as the first designer. Because in some religions he is not.

Rckn, why does God have to be more complex if he designed all things? Complex things don't always design, a rock never designs and a rock is complex. God could be simple and not complex stating he doesn't have an designer

note what i say, all complex things have a designer (i never state the designer of the complex thing must be complex as well). so if the designer is not complex it doesn't need an designer

The created can be more complex than the creator (a stupid father creating a smart son) just because God created us all does not make him superior. It doesn't even mean he needs to be life.

I would agree.

The universe is here (cosmological argument), design is here (teleological argument), beauty is here (asthetical argument), morality is here (moral argument), the desire for God is here (universal belief argument), etc.—what is their adequate preceding cause?

As Wayne Jackson has said, "It is not reasonable to assume that chaos gave rise to order, that the nonrational produced the rational, that nonliving evolved into the living, that nonconscious became conscious, that amoral developed morality, etc. The simple fact is, people do not accept evolution because it is the logical thing to do..."

It is an old argument. The flaw in the logic is that we are held hostage to the functions of our brain. The world (to some) appears to have some kind of order and in turn one has an inference that there is a design. Inferences and appearances are not good enough. They can be wrong. Our mind is designed to see patterns but in no way does it follow that apparent designs are "intelligent designs". Also, if you say that all complex things must have a designer, that is a slippery slope. If a god created all things, god would have to be even more complex and by the same logic would also have to have a designer who in turn had a designer and so on. It's called infinite regression.

Your number two kinda goes against number one, complex things don't need designers. This can evolve and change, most items have more than one designers and ideas build off one and another, a watch just didn't happen; there have been thousands of watches.
Number three is just kind of a statement, no real argument. And in regards of number four, a belief in God is also a theory. There is no proof there is a God, nobody has ever taken a picture or anything.
I kinda believe that things build off each other. Just like my watch argument, it didn't just happen, things got improved over time and it got better. Like how the worlds environment and ecosystem happened, things just built off one another until things got better and found where they fit in.

Not entirely sure, if most/all of what I said made since, I had a calculus final today and I'm pretty tired.
But good opinions and stuff, have you studied theology or the idea of God at all?

"4) There is no absoulte proof of what created life. Most are all theories."

So why is yours more credible than the others, exactly?

EDIT: The difference between a watch and nature is that we can verify the presence of a watchmaker. We know they exist. The way the people of the world know each other is a complex design, and one that's ultimately indecipherable, but we know for a fact that it simply came into being over time, and that it did not have a designer. Complexity does not always require planning.

The problem here is if you go with the thaught that there has to be a designer then you would have to also point out that it would be a never ending cycle. If everything needs a designer then the designer needs a designer and so on.

well look at this way, god theories vs non god theories, you talk about randomizing, well look at every religion, the creation myth, one or two people how much of a chance is that, what about floods or destruction of this and that, again improbability again. Ask yourself, if God is real the when can we mimic him, does he grow in power, can we ever comprehend him. Why is it that you have to have something to get something, who created the creator, and that creator no it isn't a one sided street

Watches are not living organisms that produce variable offspring that leave a fossil record through time that becomes it's most basic 3.5 billion years ago.

Your argument fails here.
