if you say that you don't have proof then read this
Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
i'm just curious if anyone has well thought out answer other than 'where's the proof?'

then i expect you shouldn't celebrate christmas or ask anything for it because you aren't Christian and if you did, then you would be a complete hypocrite. so don't tell me anything about believing in santa or the easter bunny because its all comes back to Christianity.

We understand God responds to prayer. Sometimes the prayer is approved, sometimes it is rejected. But God never sends an acknowledgement. So the failed supplicant can't tell whether his prayer was rejected or merely delayed in fulfilment. How is this any different from random chance? I know, God can't tip his hand or he wouldn't be a proper subject for faith. But the fact that there is no way to tell whether God is doing anything at all or people just get lucky sometimes, strongly suggests the latter. The fact that divine justice can't be empirically observed and is shoved off into the unexplorable "afterlife" doesn't help the theist argument either. A difference that makes no difference IS no difference. God has covered his tracks so well that he is effectively useless. So what difference would his "existence" make?

Because I have not physically seen god, nor have I physically heard him speak to me.
Also the concepts of god being able to do anything is logically flawed. The idea that god is all-knowing, all-powerful, and all-loving are also flawed. These claims seem to be absolute claims about god and what he can do; therefore, such claims require absolute proof.

I use logic and reason and they point to lack of proof that there is a god.

Edit:
quoting bible passages as some have done are NOT proof of gods exists nor is it reason to believe in god.

Edit2:
Bring on the thumbs down to show that logic and reason are things that scare you.

your talking about JESUS, not GOD, i can say im gods son and say a lot of nice things to do for each other, but that doesnt mean there is a god. then we have other gods, Egyptian gods, Greek gods, etc. who is to say they are not real. you might say "well they are just silly" well, i can say the christian god is "just silly". who knows if there really is a god or many gods, maybe the earth is god, and we have misunderstood the meaning. the earth gives us all we need. to believe in god is to belong in a community of people who also believe, thats the feeling to be accepted in something, to belong somewhere. some people believe because some thing has happened in there life, something so life changing they say i believe in god now, and for those people thats good because that keeps them alive and living for a purpose. for people like me, i dont believe in a god, i have no place to go when i die, life is now, and some times i think, well life just sucks, whats the reason for me to be here to see all the destruction and pain wheres god, there is no god, thats not for me. believers would know that all of this is going to end in a good way when god or what ever comes and saves them. this is a way to extend subject so im just going to leave it here

Becuse I never found him. I looked pretty hard. Looked for Jesus, etc. I found something, but I never had a name for it. But I knew it wasnt "Jesus". or "God." It was something else.

I found it. Asatru. The old way. The faith of my fathers. Odin, and Thor, and Tyr, and all the others.

I know it was them becuse I can feel there acceptance and approval. I felt there joy when I found there names. and becuse a God who is truly loving dosent care wheather or not his/her people worship him. Just like a child. When your child does bad you feel angry, but you love them all the same. If it is something they can't help, then you get over it, and love them just as much.

also "If you are all powerful why create a tree of wisdom that you dont want people eating from and put it in a garden and then supply the people who would want to eat it? Why not put it somewhere they wont go? Like the edge of a cliff? and why create it at all? More importantly after putting said tree in said garden and then supplying said people to said garden why would you get upset when said people eat from said tree?

It all makes very little sense. Assuming This God is all powerful. It is acctually kind of retarded and immature and far from wise. Which is what Christianity is built on. The idea that God is all powerful, all knowing, and perfect.

He apparently isnt all knowing becuse he didnt know Lucifer (who wasnt supposed to have free will) was going to tempt eve and win. (he also knows context, so he knew that if it happened Eve would say yes. After all he made her.)

He isnt all powerful becuse he either had to create the tree, or it was already created. (He had to do one thing..... means he answers to someone or something. So there goes all powerful)

He apparently isnt perfect, becuse he got pi$$ed, He messed up creating men (Becuse they arnt perfect), and really screwed up by creating lucifer.

Its ither that, or its...

He likes watching you suffer and sin. If he is all powerful he must like it otherwise he would have made things different.

Otherwise he isnt all powerful because he couldnt do it. (make things better)

Over all the idea of perfection in a being is stupid and illogical.

Have you ever considered that the bible is just a book written a long time ago? I turn the question on you because that is one of my reasons I don't believe in God. The people living in the era of the time of Christ would have been fascinated by something as simple as a wheelbarrow. Why is it so hard to accept that the bible is just a book. What is so magical about it? "The bible says so" is one of the worst reasons to believe in this nonsense.

Well all evidence points to the contrary, there are many many religions out there that claim to be the one "true" religion, essentially nothing in the Bible has come true, and the religion has changed so much over the years that people today know nothing about the origins of Christianity.

Well then, if Jesus is the proof, then let him give me the same proof he gave St. Thomas.

I remain available for his appearance.

By its very definition, theism posits the existence of a deity which has in some way, shape, or form revealed itself to the universe. For such a revelation to be of any significance, there must be self-aware structures capable of free will. That is, these self-aware structures must be capable of producing some action in violation of causation, or for which there is no anticedent. If self-aware structures exist, but do not have free will, then the revelation is irrelevant.

Thus, the existence of any theistic deity must naturally and of necessity have the consequence of free-willed self-aware structures.

For free-will to exist, the self-aware structure must have some cognitive component which is non-tangible, and not subject to the principles of physics. Any tangible component is subject to physics, and thus violates the principle of non-causation. This principle of non-tangibility is, in psychology and philosophy, refered to as 'dualism'.

However, various studies have shown that without exception, every component of the mind and consciousness arises from the actions of the nervous system. These studies, in various ways, all involve selectively disabling portions of the brain or preventing communication between them -- split brain studies (where the corpus collosum has been cut or damaged), stroke victim studies (localized or regionalized brain death), and partial brain anasthesia. This establishes with high confidence, beyond reasonable doubt, that the mind is in fact monistic, or entirely tangible.

As stated, a free-willed mind must have a non-tangible component. Since the human mind has no non-tangible component, it is incapable of free will.

Since free will is a requirement of theism, theism is provably impossible, beyond any reasonable doubt.

This method of proof by modus tollens can be summarized:

[A Theistic Deity Exists] THEN [Free Will Exists].
NOT [Free Will Exists].
THEREFORE NOT [A Theistic Deity Exists].

Assign these as follows:

A = "A theistic deity exists."
B = "Free will exists."

Then the standard format is:

A⇒B.
¬B.
∴¬A.

well, if you don't believe in Santa, then read this
"T'was the night before Christmas, and all through the house..."
Anyone can write anything.

Additional: Honestly, do you believe that Christmas is only for religious people? It is mostly just a day to give and to spend time with your family.

Cause the Bible's nothing more than a rip-off sequel to the best-selling thriller (*snicker*) that was the Old Testament, as written by a few decrepit old men about 1700 years ago about a man who may or may not have lived of whom they would have had little to no knowledge as it is.
