Guinea pigs require lots of your time, they are very social animals.. they do smell bad! If u have a room for them, great.

Parakeet also make a whole lot of mess and need a large area, lots of cleaning to do with both.

Hello,
What is your preference?

Guinea pigs are rodents and you need a good sized cage for two and make sure they are of one sex or they will have babies. They do have a smell if you forget to clean the cage.
They have this really neat whistle when they hear your voice. They are cuddly (or can be), and make great pets.

Parakeets are birds and you can get any sex for they do not breed as rodents do. Two parakeets will not be so apt to want to be picked up etc. for they have each other. They have a great sound and can learn to fly back to there cage if there wings are not clipped.
Birds are very messy but do not get that smell rodents do.

Now this depends on how you are. Do you want a pet that is very noisy, or less noisy? Do you have time to pick up and play with your pet, or a pet that is less dependent on you holding them all the time.

I have had both guinea pigs and parakeets. Parakeets most all my life and still have a pair.

The best thing to do is to get two guinea pigs cause they are very loving and you would want two girls from the same litter cause they would get along really well, and on the other hand, parakeets are loud at nighttime when you try to sleep and you have to keep feeding them and sometimes give them shots, when guinea pigs only need checkups and get its nails clipped, but also parakeets need to fly and spread there wings but it would cost some money to get there wings clipped so i would get a guinea pig if i was you!!!

Well I have both right now and I know allot of people say that parakeets are noisier but I think parakeets sound nicer then a guinea pig. and guinea pigs are hard to sex if you get two males they will fight once they are old enough to breed. two females do get along but if you get a pair then you will have more guinea pigs. with parakeets at lest you can get a pair and not put a nest box in then they will not breed.

Hope this helps

Both of those animals are good pets, but it depends on what you want from them. If you want a pet that you can feed and pet and play with I would say get the guinea pig. If you want a pet that sings, flies, and likes to crawl across your shoulders, get the parakeet. Hope this helps!

i have both and I am trying to find a new home for the parakeet cause he is agitated all the time and I don't know why other then I have cats.
i love my guinea pig, i can hold him and fed him all kinds of veggie treats and let him run around supervised.
more fun then a bird.

good luck and you will pick what is best for you and the time and space you have for the animal.

whatever you decide enjoy your new friends.

I never had a guniea pig, but I have two rats and two parakeets. Parakeet's are EXTREMELY noisy and they don't shut up! But they do go on your finger, and you can pet them eventually. But be prepared for the noise.

And all I know about guinea pigs is that they are adorbale, but they also reek.

Good luck! :)

Well, if you would rather "cuddle" with your animals, I highly recomend two guinea pigs. If you would like to have a more responceability and more playful pet, I would recomend two parakeets. In my opinion, I would love to own Guinea Pigs again.
