Fear of doctors is one phobia you need to get over if you want to survive to old age - your choice.

You need to take your temperature (see below) and, whether you like it or not, you need to go to the emergency room or see a doctor immediately or possibly risk permanent damage or death if: (1) if your temperature is 104 degrees farenheit or more; or (2) if you are unable to keep fluids down for two days; or (3) if you have had severe symptoms for 3 days or more or if your symptoms persist for 7 days or more; or (4) if your temperature is 102 degrees farenheit or more but less than 104 degrees farenheit for over 18 hours (at 104 degrees or more, stop dicking around and get yourself medical help). And I don't give a s**t if you don't like what I am telling you, because I would rather tell the truth and maybe help you then be a people pleaser. If you are too stupid to listen, well, that's natural selection at work. However, consider also that if what you have is dangerously contagious and your symptoms persist and you keep running around, you could be spreading it to others through your selfishness in not getting treatment.

In any case, drink lots of water and other fluids, whether you want them or not - this is essential to keep yourself from dehydrating. Keep yourself warm with blankets, etc. Stay at home and rest, instead of running around and possibly infecting others as you may be contagious. Eat a lot of vitamin c (fruit juice with vitamin c supplements would be best). Take a couple advil or ibuprofen for the headache (do NOT take tylenol - some people are allergic or have had other bad reactions). Take your temperature every few hours. Most people do not know how to properly take a temperature, so I have posted directions below. Take a good cold and flu medicine if you are not allergic. Try and eat tea and toast, or a couple of boullion cubes in hot water with toast, or chicken soup or other soup, whether you are hungry or not - hot boullion, chicken soup, vitamin water and/or gatorade will help balance your electolytes and are generally good for you (assuming you are not diabetic or allergic). If you are not allergic, eat one clove of garlic per day, plus take 2 capsules each of goldenseal, echinacea and myrrh gum three times per day - these are all natural antibiotics which boost the immune system so they should help against a virus too. I would also recommend eating natural yogurt packed full of healthy bacteria 2 or 3 times a day for a month - you may have some nasty bacteria in your gut and intestinal tract which you need to evict and replace with the good stuff.

Here's how to take a temperature: Note that you must not drink anything either hot or cold for 10 minutes before you take your temperature. Clean the thermometer with isopropyl alcohol (if you don't have that, use whiskey or similar) and rinse off with clean water. Now shake down the thermometer until the mercury is below 96.6 degrees Farenheit (35.88 Celsius). Slide the tip of the thermometer (with the bulb) under one side of your tongue, way in the back of your mouth. Close your mouth (but NOT your teeth) on the thermometer to hold in place and breathe through your nose with your mouth closed and sit still - you need to do this for 3 full minutes uninterrupted (longer is ok). When time is up, take the thermometer out carefully, DON'T SHAKE IT AND DON'T TOUCH THE BULB END, and look at it under a bright light so you can see how high the mercury has risen. There should be an arrow or other marking on the thermometer at normal temperature (which is 98.6 degrees F, 37 celsius) to give you a reference.

If your temperature is 101 degrees or less, that is within normal fever range.

People tell you to go see a doctor and because you don't like what they have to say, you get rude and obnoxious. And instead of getting medical help from a trained professional, you post a question like this to a website like Answers and you think you can diagnose your illness from an online website. You are either an adult with severe brain damage or a kid who doesn't know any better - I'm betting you are a kid, probably no older than 14. I'm hoping you have a decent mom or other responsible adult you can go to for help - if your parents are a waste of space, then try the school nurse. If you won't help yourself by getting the medical attention you need, then God help you. And think on this little one - do the words "too stupid to live" have meaning to you? Be smart and take care of yourself.

You didn't say anything about running a fever, or not running one.
With a bacterial infection, you will run a fever.
With a virus, more than likely your temp. will be down...but, with a cold(virus) you can still run a fever.

Fever is the body's defense against the invading bacteria...the Hypothalamus(in the brain) raises the body's temp. to, literally 'bake' that bug...kill off the bacteria.

Does sound like a type of severe cold or type of flu.....if running a fever, get under an electric blanket and turn that thing on high...help's you sweat out the bacteria's by-product waste(toxins which make you sick)
Or, cover up with blankets a mile high...sweat it out.

Do not fear doctors...they're much better to head this thing off, than go to the hospital for an extended stay with pneumonia!!!!

It sounds like you might have a bacterial infection in your body or you could just have the flu. The shakes could just be from the hot and cold chills your getting. Get some Theraflu and see if that might help. If not then I would go to the drs. office if its not getting any better. It could also just be allergies with this change of weather we are having. I hope this helps you. Connie D

Either you could have a stomach flu, and/or a fever. Get PLENTY of rest, and make sure to have some hot soup and sit back and watch cartoons, or something to make you forget about your sickness. If you get any more or worse symptoms, I suggest you go to the doctor. There's nothing to worry about. Doctors are their to help you, You could ahve something fately wrong with you, and not even know it! But I highly doubt it, I mean if your online typing fine, and not too dizzy to be online, then it shouldn't be that bad. Good luck. get better soon!

but you have no fear of a 14 year old kid giving you medical information?

Your sickness is likely a flu, but you should go to a proper doctor, not just one who plays on on the internet.

Sounds like you've got the flu, but you should see a doctor if you're feeling faint.

Go to the website http://medlinx.org and look for medical websites that let you enter your symptoms and offer you a diagnosis.

But don't try to be your own doctor - just use this information to talk with your doctor.
