My dad graduated as a physician's assistant this year, and I want to give him a great gift for Christmas. Any suggestions out there from other PA's- little things you couldn't live without?

PDAs are great gifts, but they are not little things, and a good one, that would be useful in the clinic could be quite costly.

Another gift that would be very useful is a quality stethoscope, many new graduates do not have a good one, as they have not wanted to invest the money. The best 2 to consider are the Littmann Cardiology III (my personal choice) and the Master Cardiology. Both of these are usually over $200 but can be found around $175 on sale.

Otherwise, if price is an object, consider getting hime a nice pen, and possibly have it engraved with his name and the initials PA after it (leave room for them to add the letter C after he passes his certification board).

Congratulations to your father, it is a wonderful accomplishment!

I'm not a PA..but I work with many medical personel. Seems like an item they use alot is their PDA. They can keep up with their schedules, download medication information for prescribing/interaction information. And reference it for lab value calculations. My docs use it all the time, all day long.

I would go to a bookstore and get a book in the medical field in which he is interested in.
