I couldn't lose a pound on low cal/low fat. I was always hungry. I lost 90 pounds on Low carb and was never hungry. I have kept it all off for over 6 years. My doctor who is pretty conservative said the low carb works and is not as dangerous as keeping the extra pounds on.

I do low calorie and fat. Why? Because I had a lot of weight to lose (20 lbs to go) and after you are on low carb for awhile (I think the study said about a year), you will begin to gain back the weight. And you are damaging your heart with the fat. I also never feel deprived because I can eat small amounts of pasta, bread, etc. Plus, carbs are in fruit and veggies -- so how bad can they be for us?

You may never lose weight on low cal and fat because you aren't tracking your food closely enough (it is easier to know what to avoid on low carb) and don't make the right food choices -- you should try to get 3 servings of fruit and 4 veggies per day. You also need to exercise.

Low carb is the only way to go! Just drink lots of water when you do it or your kidneys will make you miserable. I lost a lot of weight on the low carb diet, almost 100 pounds.

Low carb is freakin healthy. People that disagree, probably have heard bad things. It isn't logical, since we have been told for decades that fat is bad among a thousand other urban legends. but if you were to really eat all the food, including fruits and vegetables, that are unprocessed and low in sugar, you can't help but be healthy. Even if you lose no weight on a low carb diet, you will most likely, have ideal cholesterol ratios, healthy blood glucose/insulin levels, stronger bones, muscles and natural growth hormone levels.

Asparagus,turnip greens, collard greens,zuchini,avocadoes,red/yellow/orange and green bell peppers,cabbage,brocoli,cauliflower,jicama, tomatoes,raspberries,strawberries,mustard greens,cucumbers,pumpkin, turnip ( roots ),blackberries,blueberries,romaine lettuce, spinach,onion,kale,

Of course you are familiar with poultry, beef, pork, seafood, game.

coconut oil, olive oils, peanut oil, cream, cheese, butter and other fats are gooood for you. They just got a very bad rap, probably to boost sales of Wonder Bread and Parkay margarine.

brazil nuts, almonds, walnuts, pistachios, peanuts. All of this stuff is healthy. Sugars, flour, rice, potatoes causes such unbelieveable systemic embalances, yet it is praised as being ideal. The longer I am on low carb the more I learn about the human body. I do research almost daily to sort out fact from commercially planted fiction. My family are not low carbers yet they are carb-aware and they don't eat a full day of breads and cereals. They pay attention to the amount of carbohydrates they consume. So even though they are not as strict as I am...they know...boy do they know.

A traditional diet is not low calorie/lowfat. Here is a traditional diet:http://westonaprice.org/traditional_diets/native_americans.html

As you can see, it has Atkins beat when talking about an extreme diet, but note the health benefits that were enjoyed by these people. Also I would like to share some of my preferred low carb links:
