I have never before felt any sort of presence in our house but have seen a ghost twice when i was a kid so do believe strongly. Recently things have been going on in my house. I have seen shadows race past me, my cats been staring at things that are not there. I have been in the bath, heard a noise downstairs and when i came down both kitchen taps were running full blast and nobody else was home!Doors banging when i walk past. My boyfriend put a wash in the machine with 6 pairs of boxer shorts in and when he came to get them out they had all vanished and have never been found!that freaked him out! I was telling a friend about it the night that happened in a bar and heard 6 big bangs on the wall next to me whilst i was talking about it. My friend got freaked! on investigation there was no way the noises could have been made from the other side of the wall coz it was to high up and in the middle of pub. I also keep having strange dream about it. Any ideas?

Thankyou for the sensible answers but to the rest i can assure you im not mentally ill!!! I dont have any children but have been stressed with a new job lately and it got worse when my partner was away for a few nights and just when he got back. It has calmed down after that so far fingers crossed.

contact a local priest? or a person that deals with that kind of supernatural stuff I would cleanse the house with herbs while saying a chant good luck...and you just kinda freaked me out since Im by myself at home better get off go cuddle with my puppy miley and settle on a good book :)

There are many people who swear that poltergeists exist. And I have read accounts of people living in "haunted houses" usually the houses are old and have a history. It has also been reported that cats sense things that we can't. Sometimes strange unexplained happenings are related to there being a young girl in the family around the age of 12-14.
First, I would suspect a prankster, someone who noticed how freaked you became about some strange noises, so they decided to play a few jokes on you. If that isn't possible, I would assume it is forgetfulness, the wind, coincidence etc.
There are paranormal societies that visit locations where unexplained events are reported so they can attempt to record them. Maybe there is one in your area.

Sounds more like a mischievious ghost to me (even though thats exactly what it means) But unless a couple more of freaky things like bowls flying into the ceilinglights turning on and off and even tvs changing channels or turning on and off unexplainably. But you can also call in paranormal experts to come in and take a look. just to be careful. Poltrgiests are to not be taken lightly. I know people who've been driven out of their homes be poltergiests. Just be careful.

The human brain has an immense capacity to fool itself. It sounds like you have some plumbing problems. Is this an old house? Drafts could easily explain the banging doors.
And cats always stare at nothing. It's freaky and I don't know why they do it, but they all do.
This may not be what you want to hear, but it's a more likely explanation.

Interesting! Sounds like you are sensitive to the paranormal and they say animals always are. Did you get your house at a good deal? you should check the records for the house

There could be an entity attempting to tell you something or it could simply be a trickster spirit. Smudge your home with sage and sweetgrass (maybe burn some frankensence and myrrh) and ask the entity to leave.
Imapagan, hmmmmmmm. Your answer strikes me as very odd.

are there any children in the home ... young girls especially ?
or are you yourself going through some emotional stress
this is the most common reason for this type of activity
poltergeist activity usually stems from human energy , more so with young hormonal females
it is thought that it is due to the excess hormone levels and the need for a release of energy
what you are describing is typical of this
best remedy is to bring a little more harmony and joy into the home
have that energy released in other more positive ways
and please dont worry ... there is nothing to fear , except that fear can add to this energy

Those professing to be in the know claim kids cause the phenomena. Therefore; if kids present...go figure. If not...look for stowaways.
