Jihad is about self-correction, which definitely starts from oneself.

A Muslim in his lifetime passes through certain stages of belief and to stand against injustices & oppression, so is his response or reaction to tyranny & oppression. Hereunder are those stages:

1- Correcting oneself by standing Just towards all the matters in the daily routine.

2- Asking fellow men to stand on Justice in their daily routines.

3- Raise voice against Injustices in the society, that is, what is happening wrong in the society.

4- Standing up for the right of the oppressed people against Tyrant person or institution.

5- End Tyranny by word of mouth or by exerting social influences on the tyrant.

6- In case if that tyranny is causing loss of human life, and the Tyrant is not at all giving a heed, then in that case it is justifiable to resort to a Fight - but whenever during the fight Tyrant agrees to correct his ways - there must be a ceasefire.

Just one thing jihad comes from a root word Jahd which means to struggle. It does not mean war; the word in arabic for war is Harb.
