It is primarily a psychological phenomena from some people, mostly on the left, or those that do not inform themselves and are willing to believe what they hear in the media. The phenomena is interesting in that it demonstrates the willingness of some people to be scared of a little warming. They have dreamed up all sorts of things. In fact, a little warming will have a net benefit. This is common sense to all except those that have been poisoned by the Kool Aid IMO.

We are in a natural warm period with a small contribution by humans. Being warm is much better than being cold because cold means crop failures and starvation. We should count our blessing and stop listening to demagogue politicians or the Global Warming Doomsday Cult who say the sky is falling.

vice admiral Truly of the US Navy? Wasn't he one of the people who told us that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction?
My hypothesis- if you give a $50 000 grant to a college professor to study global warming, he is not going to look for evidence disproving the theory.

Real. Mostly caused by us.
The scientific evidence is overwhelming.
This is science and what counts is the data.
"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”
Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)
Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut and the first Commander of the Naval Space Command
Here are two summaries of the mountain of peer reviewed data that convinced Admiral Truly and the vast majority of the scientific community, short and long.

There's a lot less controversy about this is the real world than there is on Yahoo answers:

And vastly less controversy in the scientific community than you might guess from the few skeptics talked about here:

"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know... Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point. You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."

Those who forget the past ,are doomed to repeat it . (where is all the ozone scare and global cooling they predicted?) And if you make up something, and repeat it enough times , it becomes fact. (To mostly the liberal who let others think for them) , and whats worse. when proven wrong ,they still defend it!

Global warming is a natural, cyclical event that evolves - and keeps evolving - over tens of thousands of years. Unfortunately, man's "industrial revolution" of these past 150 years has accelerated the process, leaving man, plants and animals with insufficient time to adapt to the coming climatic changes.
We have polluted our air; poisoned our waters; destroyed our rain forests; over fished our oceans; ruined our mangrove forests; stripped our rich natural soils; created havoc in normally pristine areas as we drill for oil, mine for coal and explore for natural gas; forced the extinction of many species of plants and animals necessary for our own survival; asphalted over millions of acres of farmland; chopped down majestic trees that lived for hundreds of years before us, and squandered virtually all of Earth's natural resources for our own personal pleasure and profit. We've been poor stewards of this planet over which we were given dominion; our great-grandchildren will pay dearly for our avarice, arrogance, ignorance and hubris. -RKO- 12/06/07

Climate Change, or Global Warming is a man made phenomenon in which human activity has caused the base temperature of the earth to ride through the creation of green house gases (GHG). Green house gases are primarily carbon dioxide (CO2), and methane.
These gases, cause a ring to form in the Earth's upper atomosphere which cause the heat of the suns rays to get trapped, rather than to leave the atmosphere which would normally cool the earth.
Trees and plants absorps of CO2 to live, and excrete oxygen in order to live. A good way to get rid of the imbalance of CO2 which currently exists in the enthem vironment is to plant more trees, and to keep from chopping them down.
One way to save trees is through the legalization of hemp, which could be used to make paper. It is a sustainable crop that grows fast and makes a good quality paper product.
Because Hemp is a form of cannibis, which is in the marijuana family, it is currently illegal. Once it is legalized not only will we have access to hemp but also medical marijuana can be more widely available to people who need it.
I think that we need to legalize hemp in order to have a

It doesn't matter who it's caused by.... it is going to cause problems in the future. so if there's anything at all we can do to slow/stop it, we should. even if it IS natural. think about it. a meteor hitting the earth is natural ... but we should still stop it! same with global warming.
