people who are married should take it seriously....it was designed to hint to us about a relationship with God.....
spiritually God comes into us and leaves his Holy Spirit there....this brings forth the birth of something new....
sex should be taken seriously...its not a game....and it never should be a hook up....seriously...
edit: why do you think Satan's attack by use of sexual acts is so intense? he wants to destroy everything that God has done [especially in creation scenerios] the symbolism is so important in the spiritual realmmm...
If he can mess up a relationship through lack of sex[spiritually bond on earth] then symbolically he's telling God that he thinks he has the power to prevent God from having a intimate relationship with humans [bond in heaven]...

Our desire for sex is less about intelligent decision and more about an ingrained instinct to further the human race. When the need to "mate" disappears, we will most likely find that our desire to do so will also disappear.
Consider greed for example. There won't be money in Heaven, so we won't have a desire to lie, cheat, and steal to get it.
