Because they missed that lesson in Kindergarten. Little kids do this all the time, however, an adult often catches them and tells them NO! Boogers also have a slightly salty taste. (I was a kid once). Of all the disgusting body castoffs we have, the probably taste the best. :)

This is a bad habit they deveolped in childhood, like thumb sucking, nail biting or hair chewing. It is, however, aso the most dangerous. (Hair chewing a close second). The problem is mucus function in the body. It sits in your nose and grabs all the germs you breath in to keep you from getting that cold. If you eat the booger, then you completely negate that by putting the germs out of your nose and into you throat, which is where they want to be. People who eat boogers are going to get sick a lot more often. Your also eating the dirt , smog and pollen your system is trying so desperatly trying to keep out.
