I'll admit anorexia is bad, but what is the downfall to bulimia? Is it crazy to eat junk food periodically, and be bulimic every time?

What a naive question. Imagine all of the time you spend with friends, having fun, doing things that you enjoy, being healthy, having a relatively "normal" life....the list goes on and on. Now imagine trading in those things to be alone with your Cheetos and your toilet bowl. Sound fun? It's not. I lived it for 10 years. Don't even think about it unless you really want to give up any semblance of normalcy and happiness.

Yes, because bulimia is a bad way of dealing with an eating problem. The vomit (that's what it is) has acid in which can eat away at the lining of both the esophagus and the enamel of the teeth, causing damage to both. It can lead to involuntary reflux, where the valve at the top of the stomach doesn't work properly any more, which can mean long term heartburn and discomfort.
Far better is to exercise a reasonable amount of control to your intake, and if you do over do it, just take a bit more exercise to burn it off.
Besides that bulimia is a horrible waste of food.

When you throw up, with the food, there is also the acid that is your stomach, and it can rupture your esophagus, also can ruin your teeth.. plus you can get to where anything enters your stomach, the natural reaction will be to puke and you will not be able to keep anything down..its an addiction if you are not careful and can take over your life just like any other drug the best way to keep that monster at bay for the junk food for me is to eat something small every day, Like half a snickers, and the rest of the time make good choices!,,i have lost 20 pounds in 2 months ... but I eat pretty healthily all the time and all day!

When you make yourself throw up you are basically starving yourself which makes bulimia just as bad as anorexia. It is actually more harmful because the acid in your stomach comes up along with the food. The acid eats away at your esophagus and rots your teeth. Also yo don't get any nutrients an you get bad diarrhea among other things. Really it just isn't a good thing. There are many other healthy ways to loose weight.

Bulimia and Anorexia are bad and while anorexia is easy to see the down fall, Bulimia really is horrible as well both of my Grandfathers suffered from it (I know it funny but it has been a mans problem in my family) and my Paternal grandfather went into the hospital for a minor surgery and got pneumonia and died what we found out later from my grandmother was he had been throwing up in the bathroom while he was sick and we think he gave himself pneumonia by getting the throw up in his lungs.
Its addicting and after doing it once or twice you will find it very hard to stop. Which is why I grew up knowing that my 60 year old grandparents did this you don't just stop.

When you induce vomit, you mess with electrolytes in your body. That stuff contains free ions like sodium, potassium, calcium etc. and they basically maintain osmotic balance, bloody acidity, and you need that balance for muscular and nerve function. Tamper too much with them and your muscles (read: heart) can seize up and stop working, leading to heart attack and death.
The common misconception is that bulimia is safer than anorexia because of the lack of extreme physical manifestations of malnourishment. The truth is, bulimia is plenty times more likely to kill you by causing sudden death than anorexia is.
Also, what you describe as "eat[ing] junk food periodically" might not occur frequently enough to be medically classified as bulimia. That has to happen at least twice a week over at least 6 weeks. If it's once in a while, it's binging with purging behaviour, possibly ED-NOS.

damaged teeth, bad breath, sore throat, damaged insides ,weak , headaches, lack of nutrition, bad skin that takes ages to clear weakens vital organs. From laxatives, damaged insides, likely to develop bowel problems bad smells dehydration and loads more reasons and in both cases weight usually stays the same weight or even gains weight..constantly unhappy, gets addictive taking laxatives /puking and the initial hating of self its likely to get worse and worse and high fat sugary foods are absorbed by the body pretty quickly so no matter how many times your try to throw it all up or poo it all out you'll never be able to get all the calories up so if you've had a huge binge on loads of rubbish, it may be equivalent calories left in you as if you had eaten a normal or a large meal, only with little nutrients..so its best to just eat a normal healthy meal..no puking pooing or starving

overall its very bad

Because it's unhealthy. They don't eat just junk food. They gorge on huge amounts of all types of food, then either force themselves to vomit or use laxatives. Repeated vomiting can erode tooth enamel as well as the lining of the esophagus (due to irritation from stomach acids) & repeated use of laxatives robs your body of the nutrients it needs & can lead to extreme dehydration. This is not just a physical health issue, but a mental health issue as well. Bulimics have extremely distorted body images & need counseling.

Honestly, there are so many health risks to making yourself vomit but I'll give you a selective few. First from the acid of your stomach coming out of your mouth, you completely ruin your enamel on your teeth, making them yellow, cracked, and disgusting. Your esophagus is also experiencing the acidity of your stomach and actually can scar it, even tearing it completely. Bulimia also causes acne, makes your face puffier, and when you don't do it you may retain water because you lose so much when you vomit and then your body wants to hold on to it. There is many more but I figured this was enough for you to hold on to.

Do you know what Bulimia is? It's just as bad as anorexia for your body. Any time you starve your body in any way then over load it with unhealthy food and starve it again only to repeat is dangerous to your health. Seriously, keep your body healthy.

-Irish man said it perfectly ... it can kill you!
