Don't take anything out of a system that you have not put anything into! (SSI, Welfare, etc)
Be a contributing, responsible member of our society!
Left your country because it was bad? then don't bring the things here that made it bad there!
Our culture is a unique mixture of so many parent cultures, a true fusion of great things, don't demand that we change our country to your liking, can't dig our scene---go home!

I know that this may sound a little hypocritical since our country was founded by immigrants, but I honestly believe that as a nation we can not sustain our higher level of living if we allow many more immigrants in whether they are legal or illegal.

In America we have created a high standard of living compared to the rest of the world, and this is because we have been able to keep unemployment rates low, and our overall econonmic value high, because the demand for laborers was high. However with new technology and an exponentialy growing population the demand for laborers is down, so even without more immigrants coming in the unemployment rate will be climbing in the few decades.

Legal immigrants are great. They add to the cultural diversity of this country. Illegals need to leave. They are a drain on this countries economic resources. Even those that do work still do not pay taxes therefore they do not contribute. How to deal w/ the illegal immigration problem? I have a feeling we may have to shut down the U.S. to all immigration for at least 5 years until we straighten out the mess. I don't see us being able to deport all the illegals while we are still allowing more people in. I say let's get rid of the trash first and keep it out. Make this a country that we can be proud of.

My feelings about legal immigrants are the same as my feeling toward U.S. citizes or anyone else, for that matter. I do not discriminate against people for having been born in a foreign country.

As for illegal immigrants, I do not approve of illegal immigration, but I realize that not all illegal immigrants are evil, dangerous, and despicable.

I think that the ideal way to deal with immigration is to make it easier for people to immigrate legally. If it were easier, few people would find it necessary to immigrate illegally. To deal with illegal immigration, I support amnesty for illegal immigrants. However, I think they should be forced to pay higher taxes for the first few years after they become citizens, to make up for not paying taxes. I also support harsh punishment for employers of illegal aliens.

I love immigration! What I dont like are people that sneak into the country illegally.

The best way to deal with immigration? Which kind, legal or illegal?

We need to reduce legal immigration to a reasonable number, say 200,000 a year. there are already 40 million immigrants in our country today, and many of them are unassimilated. Most illegal aliens should be deported through just enforcing our current laws, and adding more ICE agents. We should only allow legal immigrants who are educated, skilled, or who will perform jobs that Americans are not doing.

Our current immigration policy is suicidal and insane. This insanity of open borders and allowing over a million immigrants into our country every year makes no sense at all.

My family came here from Lithuania in the 1920's. My family came here from Italy in the 1930's. My family came here from France in the 1800's. My family came here from Wales in the 1800's. My family are all immigrants.
They all came her legally. All got jobs (even if they had to work at professions that were difficult, dangerous and that they were over-qualitfied for). All paid taxes. All learned the language (even though it was hard, time consuming and there were no English as a second language courses they could take). All put their kids into school so the next generation could have it better...and so on.
I think immigrants who do it legally should have a full, unwaivering support and assistance with learning English and finding work and learning the dominant culture without losing theirs.
I think immigrants who are here illegally should be deported as soon as possible.

Being a country of immigrants I totally support those that are here legal. I think everything should be done to remove the illegals from this country. Though it is impossible to do it with law enforcement it is possible through tougher legislation on companies and individuals that hire them. Also put heavy fines and mandatory jail time on people that rent them homes or give them jobs. Let them go through the legal process and then welcome them as citizens. Penalize cities, counties and states that shelter them.

Illegal - arrogant scum who need to be deported YESTERDAY.

Legal - technically okay, but as of lately, there's been too many (and of the overbreeding type also, unfortunately). I feel we should slow down legal immigration until population levels are lower.

Ideally, I wouldn't let a racist make a decision about immigration.

As for illegal immigrants? Immigrants are people too. And the next time I meet an illegal immigrant mocking me with all his masses of ill-earned wealth, I'll make sure to tell him how all us poor wretched American Citizens feel about him taking our precious tax money. Until then, however, I'll continue to keep an open mind about illegal immigrants.

If keeping an open mind means accepting that they're not all impoverished and that they didn't all endure hardship beyond measure to get here, so be it. But I'd rather stray on the side of prejudice that says illegal immigrants deserve more than hatred.
