Let me start off by saying I am a Christian. I read the bible and I think there are some very good and true messages in there.
Now, I would say I am also a scientific guy. I would say I have a decent grasp of logic too. I approach things in a logical way, I take a look at the evidence and make a judgement based on that.
I see questions/answers on here bashing Christians all the time on their scientific beliefs...you know...about evolution/creation, the Earth being 6000 years old, the Earth being flat and whatnot. And I know that a lot of people just think Christians are primitive and not very smart. Knowing all that I really try to look at all the evidence and make a scientific and logical choice on what I lean towards as truth.
However, I just really don't think the Earth is a sphere. What do you think of that? Does that make me illogical? Dumb? Ignorant? Share your thoughts...I won't be offended.

Vishal: You always ruin my fun. I am going to have to create a new account just for fun. I would block you if I believed in that..but I don't *sigh*. At least I got a few good replies...good as in they gave me a laugh. But with you being the first answer like that...that is really a bummer.

Pangle: Thanks for asking...of course I think it is somewhat of an oblate spherical shape...but not a actual sphere. Kind of bulgy in the middle...some say pear shaped. Whatever, Vishal ruined it for me. But even pointing it out so early...some still make their assumptions and let them fly. Yeah...I'm bored...why else would I be here.

It's not a sphere. It's too flat at the poles. A sphere is the closest easily identifiable shape it approximates.
Stop trying to trick people.

The Bible does promote that the earth is flat. But that was before modern science obviously. If the earth was truly flat, people would be dropping off into the great unknown right and left, which has not happened.
Based on your theory, I'm guessing you think that big globe in outer space that we are occupying is just a figment of our imaginations? You are entitiled to your beliefs but I personally think that is a very primitive and ignorant way of thinking when science has proven otherwise.

The book of Job says that God hung the earth on a circle.
They probably told Columbus that if he sailed from Spain he would fall of the edge of the Earth but Old Columbus probably read the Bible and believed God. He did not falloff the earth he discovered the new world.

I personally have not flown around the world in a plane or sailed it in a boat. Nor hve I gone up in a spacecraft and seen the planet for myself. But, I put my 'faith' in the thousands who have-who have actually seen, taken pictures and experienced this in group situations. Unlike Christianity, there are NO good arguments that are more logical and the fact that it is, does not-can not, contradict any other rule it's associated with.

What Vishal said. It's not a perfect sphere. It's bumpy and flattened at the poles. The flattening is due to the earth's rotation.

I can't say whether or not this makes you illogical dumb or Ignorant.
You've more or less made a statement similar to saying "I'm an atheist" You've said what you don't believe but not what you do believe or why. You could still be a complete imbecile but you haven't made it obvious... yet.

Your bible says it's a circle, something like a platter I suppose.
Nowhere does it call the earth a sphere.
