Don't you have a church to do that in? And if we do have prayer in schools, whose prayer should it be? Muslim, Protestant, Catholic, Baptist? Who is going to win that coin toss?

Here are a few reasons why Christians think being able to pray in school is important:

1. I think now it's more about not being allowed to do it, rather than there being a distinct need for it.

2. They also believe it was basically a right taken away from them, so they understand it as issue of justice.

3. They believe a strong faith and a quality education should go together to make good citizens.

4. It's a stand against secularism.

5. It does have its evangelistic properties in the midst of highly influence-able age groups

Why is it so important for the unbeliever to silence peoples prayer? Why does it offend them so? In a land that is supposed to have religious freedom, we should be able to pray out loud anywhere we want. We're not just Christians at church, we are Christians everywhere we go. Praying in the midst of unbelievers isnt forcing anything on them. They dont have to pray, they dont have to believe in the things we ask for, and they dont have to believe in God. They need to simply be respectful of other peoples religions, and keep quiet. What is so chalenging about being respectful? If my kids school were mostly Muslim or Hindu, I would seek to put them in a more Christian school. If I couldnt, I would ask them to be respectful of others and I wouldnt campaign that they change what they do at the school simply because I dont share their religion. If they want to say a prayer, fine. It isnt force because no force is applied. Now if we were giving kids detention for not praying, THAT would be force. Efforts have been made in the past to be inclusive of unbelievers and allow them to leave the class if they need, etc etc, and to no avail. It is unbelievers that are using force by being hostile toward our religion and limiting its free expression. Look in the mirror.

Everyone in my class prayed at test time when the teacher wasn't looking.

Really though, I personally think that the whole class praying as led by the teacher would be a bad idea. Groups of students being able to pray as they wish should be just fine.

I don't think there should be prayer in schools. Also I think "Under God" shouldn't be in our pledge, I think the pledge should not be said at all in schools, I think the United States government should be dismantled, democracy obliterated, and take evolution out of the public schools too.

They would rather have our children waste their time in schools than get a good education.
