I am a very spiritual person, an apprentice wicca I must say, but how do I know I have opened my third eye?

You will know. Keep in mind that 'seeing' energy doesn't always mean it will manifest visually. For me it is just a certainty that I am right about something. Often times this happens without my even being aware of it. The other day I answered a post and I included the phrase 'there's really no reason to freak out'. It never occured to me consciously that the asker was freaking out. She mentioned it to me later saying 'was it that obvious?'. No, it really wasn't. Often times, I find myself thinking about a problem or issue and suddenly the answer pops into my head. Usually this is not an answer that I would have come to by logical deduction, but rather a total leap of intuition.

Keep in mind that the third eye is merely one way of thinking about the sixth chakra. What the sixth chakra truly represents is clairvoyance, or clear seeing, or clear perception. To perceive clearly is to perceive with the spirit, without interference from the brain. The spirit cannot directly perceive the physical world, and so cannot be deceived by physical mean. Instead the spirit perceives energy, and is therefore very difficult to deceive. To open your third eye requires that you put away your physical senses and perceive with spirit only. Of course, it is first necessary to progress through the other chakras, one cannot simply jump directly to the sixth. Well, that's not entirely true; you can jump directly to the sixth but your spiritual development will then be out of balance, likely resulting in unhappiness or mild to severe insanity. It would be like knowing the truth but being unable to cope with it on lower levels of existence (chakras). I think many of the 'insanities' that people suffer from are the results of imbalanced spiritual development.

Anyway, I'm off topic. Opening the third eye is a gradual process for most people. You need to get in touch with yourself as a spiritual being. That is, you need to realize that you are not a person who has a soul but rather a spirit who has a body. The body is a tool, it is not you. If you rely on your body as the sole means of experience then you will be limited to the five physical senses that it posseses. Only by accepting your true spiritual nature, can you progress beyond the physical. This is something that (like all spiritual lessons) must be first learned intellectually and then realized (that is to say; made real, as opposed to conceptualized) spritiually. It is not enough to simply understand these things with your brain. These truths must become a part of you, spritually. In other words they must become a part of who you are as spirit, part of your very identity.

Again, I'm off topic. When you start to perceive with your third eye, you cannot help but know. The sixth chakra is also what people call the Voice of God. It always presents the truth, it is but for you to listen. If you want to open your third eye, pay attention to it. It really doesn't require any more than that. As Yoda said 'your focus determines your reality'. Whatever you focus on will become your reality. If your focus is negative, your reality will be negative, if your focus is money then your life will revolve around money, if your focus is seeing the hidden truth behind our physical existence then you will.

I like to think that I am a very spiritual person as well. I am not exactly sure what being an apprentice wicca entails, but I believe I know what you are referring to regarding the third eye. The third eye, as I understand it, is another way of describing the "pearl of great price" which is insight, wisdom and understanding of the Universe. It is when you can see the Universe as it truly is (unencumbered by your concepts of it), that you have truly opened your Third Eye.

The "Kursi" or the third eye will open when the other two eyes have become blind to the world ( this means the attachments to the world have been broken).
This is difficult indeed, but possible within humans.
