... but without becoming more involved with any particular religious affiliation? Or (to rephrase), I want to deepen my connection to God, but DIRECTLY, not through Catholic retreats or Hindu ceremony (both just examples), etc. Any thoughts?

selfless service. this Christmas go to a homeless shelter and spend your time serving those who are not thought of.

thats what i would suggest. mind you it doest have to be Christmas, any time will do. the important part is to serve while expecting no reward.

that, i feel is the best way to deepen your relationship with God.

Since everyone has already given the standard answer about reading the Bible and praying everyday, I'll give you another suggestion (though this should be additional, and not an ''either/ or'' thing). There's a woman named Joyce Meyers who has a show on TV called ''Enjoying Everyday Life.'' It's a Bible-based show, and she's a televangelist, but she's pretty good and she's honest. She doesn't ever ask people to send in money, and her show is geared toward women. Like I said, her show is Bible-based, and she teaches from the Bible, but it's not really what I would call a ''religious'' show. She's not strict or ritualistic in any way, other than the fact that she emphasizes daily prayer sometimes. If you could do a quick search for her name (can't remember if it's ''Meyer'' or ''Meyers'') online, you could probably watch her show right now. If not, you will at least be able to find out what network(s) it's on. I think you'll like it, and if you like it, I *know* you'll get a lot out of it. She really is a good teacher, and her show helps a lot of women in a lot of ways.

Peace,
Drew

The best way to build a closer relationship with God is by talking to Him more often than you ever have. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you like never before and He will. Compare building this relationship to the building of any other relationship. Communication is the key element. Find out everything you can about Him and what He has planned for your life by not just reading your bible but STUDYING your bible. Invest in reference materials that will help you to better understand the true meaning of the scriptures in the bible. You will then better understand what God is saying to you through His word. Pray for an increased appetite for Him and keep feeding it! WAIT on Him to answer you. Once He begins to reveal Himself to you and directing you in the way He has planned for your life to go, listen and follow His direction. God Bless.

maximum nuns do no longer positioned on a habit or perhaps conservative black and veil anymore. you will possibly probable no longer understand maximum nuns on the line with the aid of fact they may well be in denims, or a gown or pants in superb condition. even if it somewhat is faulty to no longer permit a woman to positioned on her head protecting if she needs. i'm able to verify nevertheless that for sake of identity and academic honesty it being required for her face to show (ie a head protecting without facial veil). to substantiate somebody else isn't attending class or taking her checks for her.

You have to learn his gospel and what he requires of you...unfortunately for you, that DOES mean you have to go to church.

There's no round about way around it, either you go through with it, or not.

Edit:

Otherwise, you would be making up the "gospel rules," on your own, meaning that you would be professing to yourself that you know and ONLY you know God, that would make you a false prophet...even if you don't intend to convert someone, sharing the idea that you can worship by yourself is a false teaching.

Look up the word "congregation," in the bible. You will see that Christians are to meet together to strengthen each other in the faith. It's impossible to go along life on your own, the way to know God is to follow him.

Go to church. You would have to pray to God to find out which one is true. However, you have to do the research and see which of all it is. Make a list and pray to God to help you.

Take time to read and study the bible and pray every day. Ask God for direction, and when you pray, don't just pray for yourself, but pray for lost loved ones and friends.
Also, get yourself a Concordance or Commentary if you don't already have one. It really helps put you into the frame of mind that the Bible talks about (ex. you're reading Genesis and you don't quite understand some of the traditions).

The Blessed Virgin Mary was not affiliated to any organized Church and she became pregnant by none other than God the Holy Ghost!... I know that such honor were bestowed only on very few women in the Old Testament, too... but such things happen! It is a matter of being at the right place at the right time...! Just be patient... don't lose hope!
