I'm looking for black bridesmaid's dress with champagne (or similar shade) sashes. I've seen a few dresses here and there, but mostly strapless.
I do like strapless gowns. But, I'm also looking for other types of necklines, etc.
The dresses need to be long/formal and no more then $175.
Please no David's Bridal.

I wouldn't mind buying dresses from a few different designers. But, I'm having a hard time matching styles and fabrics between different designers.

There are a few on the Ann Taylor web site, but not many in your price range that are full length, but I found this one that is very pretty

Through house of brides you can find designer dresses at a discount. Many of the designers have full length black dresses. I have not seen any with a sash, but you can buy the sash separate, and I am sure it will look find because most of the dresses are pretty plain.

ONe of my favorite designers, Alfred Angelo, offers separates, and yes they come in black. So you can choose the perfect fit and style for each bridesmaids and these look great with a sash or you could add a shrug or shawl.

There are tons of sites out there, just search for bridesmaids dresses, good luck!

A lot of bridesmaid dresses are strapless, but they also come with removable/attachable straps that match.
I bought my girls dresses from Mori Lee ( your local bridal shop can help you look at the brand), and they were strapless, but had attachable straps so, each of the girls could decide for themselves if they wanted to wear the straps or not.

Browse your local mall. Dept stores such as Macys and Dillards have special occasion dresses that aren't all strapless. Also there are some stores that specialize in prom/special occasion styles that are inexpensive compared to the bridal shops.

I was in a wedding where the bride picked out the fabric and we each had our dresses made. The pattern was of course approved by the bride, but it allowed each girl to find a pattern that went best with her figure. I've also worn the dress to another occasion since - how often does one wear a bridesmaid dress twice? :-)

May I suggest that you go and look at department/specialty stores instead of a bridal designer?

Most dresses I have found are stapless. I though about sewing straps on. Have a great wedding!
