I am having a problem with a certain sin. I avoid it lik crazy most of the time, but sometimes the pressure is too great. When I finally do give in, I tend to indulge in the sin for quite a while. Is this normal for a christian? How can I stop it? Please help!

Yes, I will help you. Listen, being a Christian does not mean that one is perfect. It means that we CAN be overcomers through Christ Jesus! If you truly want to stop this, then go to God, in prayer. Talk to him as you have in this forum and tell him you want to turn away from this (repent) but, you need His strength! He will honor your request if you are very sincere!!

I think all of us, as Christians, go through this alot! After all, we are in the flesh, in a very sinful world and yet, we are te set ourselves apart from this. We are weak, by mere sin, we are weak and God does expect us to ask for His help...He is always there!

Please know, I will pray and ask God to help you to become an overcomer, through Christ. I pray that God will give you strength and will honor your desire to be set free from this. God bless you and know that you are on the right track! I will continue, in prayer for you!

We all struggle with sin, some struggle more than others. You just need to keep repenting every time you sin. Jesus understands your problems and weaknesses. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. Don't be mean to yourself and know that you are human. Just really keep trying, one day you will conquer the problem, just take one day at a time.

Yes it IS normal.

Sin is cumulative, & if not confessed right away, only gets, worse, as you have noted.

Just remember the promise for all Believers, found in:

1 John 1:9-10 (New International Version)
New International Version (NIV)
Copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984 by International Bible Society

9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.

Confess the sin NOW!

Then CLAIM this verse! It is our right as Believers!

It's a common thing I believe everyone that believes in Christ at some point or another struggle with different sins. Remember we never quite arrive. Sometimes like Paul he gives us a thorn in our flesh so that his grace could be suffice. I understand your feeling as I struggle with my own sins. God Bless.

Read Romans, Chapters 7 and 8. Paul shares his struggle with sin.

"O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?
I thank God - through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin." Romans 7:25 (NKJV).

"No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make a way of escape, that you may be able to bear it." 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV).

Just keep working on it.
It is called a besetting sin or a stronghold.
Keep turning it over to God.
Charles Stanley has a book about strongholds. "Overcoming the Enemy"
Try reading it.

Father,
Have we not all sinned against Heaven Lord God? Then Lord, I ask humbly that You will hear the cries of this dear child of Yours and take the desire of this sin from him. Father remove the yoke of guilt and burden from his spirit and strenghten his flesh. I ask this in the Holy and Unmatched Name of Jesus Christ, and sit in belief of a Miracle. Amen!

Anyone in Christ is a new creature. if you continue in God's word you will have no time to sin and if you pray there will be no time to be deceived by the devil. An empty mind is the devils playground so do things that please God and you will not have time to think of your sin

Are you truly convicted in your heart that this is a sin....

Or, do you believe it to be a sin, because you have been taught so, by your religions rhetoric and dogma?

Pray, ask for God's guidance...and if you seek to please him, rather than man or man's religion...you will have a lot more peace and a lot less desire to do that which you are convicted of to be wrong.
