Or should religious teachings and scientific theories not interfere with one another?

Interesting. I never looked at it that way before.

I think any serious responses you're likely to get will focus on the fact that public schools are government-run while Sunday schools are not. Of course, that's also a pretty good argument for not teaching Creationist "science" in public schools, too.

Science class should present all scientific theories as theories, and if opposing theories exist, they should also be presented. Teach our children String Theory and the Big Bang Theory, the Theory of Evolution and the Theory of Intelligent Design. As far as religions go, let's present them also, as Comparative Religion, as we see in colleges. There is a fearful ignorance of religions in this country. Few high school students can discuss Hinduism intelligently, or Shintoism, nor do they know what the Theravada Buddhists believe.

I think that would go against the whole point of Sunday School. Science/rational thought don't mix well with religion lol. They hit these kids at an early age with their beliefs when they are imressionable, discussing evolution would undermine all that work. Let the public schools straighten them out.

Since both are theories, and major ones for that matter, they both should be taught in a non biased manner. Let the kids make up their own mind what to believe.

Only if creationism is introduced as an alternative to evolution in public schools.. In other words, if the creationists want ID or creationism taught in public schools. they should be required to reciprocate

I studied evolution in Sunday School. Seriously.

It's an important theory every Christian should know about. We also studied all the criticisms against it that the school kind of forgot about.

I don't think they should teach evolution in church. It would go against most of what the Bible says. They should stay separate.
