Boyfriend sons are 16 and 15.
The boys are in trouble all the time, at school, at home, they are destructive, smoking pot, and constently kicked out of school.
I dont believe in spanking.
I have never spanked my kids 18 and 16, they have never been in trouble.
My boyfriend has not spanked his kids since we have been together over a year and the trouble is escallating!!

I am 16 and im postive that if my parents spanked me, i would jute keep up my behavior or increase it. but thats just part of being a teenager ha.
it can be frustrated because theres basically not much you can do. with any punishment, you will seem like the b***h "Step" mom. i would try putting them in a new school or moving to a new part of town where they can try to meet new friends. you might have better luck with a private school or a boarding school. Try taking away freedoms such as driving, friends, stuff like that, but dont be surprised when the rebel. stay strong and good luck!

spanking a 16 and 15 year old? it might work for 6-10 year olds but 16? come on thats' too old.
taking away certain priveledges such as cell phones, entertainment, friends... thet get the message across better than spanking. Violence on kids encourages more trouble because it shows them violence is the only way things get done. That's wrong.

Spanking might not be appropriate for kids that age. Spanking will not put fear into them now, which is really the only thing it does to young kids. The best way would be for the father to take control and talk to them. He needs to lay down rules they need to follow or get out. Its so hard to try and make kids undertand at that age, but it is possible. If talking doesnt work, maybe counseling. whatever you do, it should be done soon! good luck!

I don't believe that spanking is the answer in this case. These children are too old for that; spaking stops when your child becomes a double digit or puberty, which ever comes first. Your boyfriend needs to project a little bit of tough love. There are programs for children like this if tough love doesn't work. My step-sister went to one at 15 and came out when she was 17. She came home one the weekends and for holidays; she got better gradually. At 26, she is a better person for it. The program stabalized her and made her aware of what she was really doing and why. It also kept her out of jail and juvey!

They leave if you ground them? Boot camp. Try to have a talk to them first. They may be trying to tell you guys something. If that doesn't work...ofcourse, they are way to old to be spanked......
Send em to boot camp. The kind where you finish school there. If they don't listen, then they need tough love, or counseling.
I"m sorry, this must be so frustrating.

I guess whatever methods you guys used did not work. They are too old to spank and never taught how to live and act all their life. You will get to visit them on weekends in jail for not being raised properly. Good Luck and you will need it and your boyfriend. That is kind of the problem right there. But too late.

i dont think that spanking would help the situation, if they are that out of control they may try to hit back. thats a hard situation to be in and i am not looking forward to my daughters teenage years lol. i know what i was like at that age and a lot of it might be acting out for more attention. i think that your bf needs to lay down the law big time and stick to it.

I think 16 and 15 are kind of old to spank, but he needs to punish them.

You should either spank them or scare them like taking them to a jail or something

they're way too old for spanking, in fact they'd probably laugh at you if you tried. what punishments have they been given in the past? ground them, take away phone and tv privileges, make them do extra chores. schedule teacher/parent confrences, and make them have meetings with their school counselor.
