I am not atheist I am a Catholic. When I need someone to listen without feed back he's there. He listens. To me it's a way of thinking. It's positive. It's your conscience that decides if you are right or wrong. The little voice in the back of your mind. If I ask myself If I believe in God, yes.

If someone feels that there is no God and they want to be atheist, that is their decision. I try not to judge them.

I am an atheist. First of all, I consider Jesus to have been a man, nothing more. I could never believe in worshipping a God/Goddesses because I simply believe they do not exist. And because Jesus was a man...I can't in my right mind worship him. That may beg the question: who, then, do I worship? I worship no one.

Between the ages of 10-12, I realized that the belief in God is based wishful thinking not evidence. And I don't have a very high capacity for self-delusion.

A few reasons. I like this question cause you ask both sides.

1. Comparative Religion Classes...too many other religions (both current and past ones) that all believed they were right until they were conquered. I see Christianity as no different.
2. Complete Lack of Evidence.
3. Attitude of many Christians.
4. No answers to my prayers.
5. Feeling of happiness when I rejected my religion.

I do not believe in God because there is no evidence for the existence of any god or gods, pure and simple. I also think it is pretty clear that religious beliefs are the product of wishful thinking; a desire for a protector to look out for us; a need to feel important and central to the universe rather than being an accident in an indifferent and purposeless universe; a hope that ultimate justice will prevail.

I studied religion for a few years and never felt a spark. I tried many religions, but only saw them as simple lies to make ones self feel better. So I am an Atheist.

I'm an atheist because I believe that in every religion there is some form of discrimination. Whether if it's discriminating somebody's disability, race, gender, or sexual orientation. I also don't believe in religion because there is not enough evidence to back it up. Even if spirits could be proven, I don't think there will be any specific acknowledged gods or realms where those spirits will be living in. I believe if spirits do exist, none of them would be deities and all of them would just be floating around in the universe free to explore but no realms. Spirits would be floating around in the universe and there would be no realms for them no matter how good or how bad they are.

I am a Believer because I was raised one. I can feel God working through me at times, and I try to understand things from His point of view. (Though I'd be dishonest if I told you I understand everything perfectly) I had witnessed in myself that if i don't put things into the hands of God and if I don't let Him lead instead of me trying to make my own decisions all the time, catastrophes will occur! I am a Believer (I'm trying to be careful about using the word Christian because it's about living righteously and being close to God, it's not a form of religion) because I know God longs to have the strongest bond with His children and for them to spend ample time with Him. Besides, things just don't come out of thin blue air. Things and people just don't make themselves. Some being had to be behind it all!
Plus, recently, God showed me new ways to spend time with Him by sending me in the right places at the right time. He showed me knew ways to enjoy life, and has put me in circumstances to prove to me that I am a strong survivor, that I'm not weak and fragile like I thought I was before. With God, all things are possible. That's not the case with men and science.
Since being better about putting things in His hands and putting more faith in Him, and letting Him direct me, I will confess I was once clinically depressed, and now my depression is almost gone. I'm not saying that everyone who has depression are not right with God because there are plenty of people who I'm sure has God's favor on them, and still have clinical depression.
It will take me too much time to fully explain why I chose to believe! I know that things will not always be sunny and crystal clear, but I know that I rather have some time of hardships and weeping here on earth and be in heaven someday, than have eternity of misery in hell because I chose not to Believe and follow Him!

Bless you! ((((((((HUGS & HOLY KISSES)))))). Peace be with you, and continue to go in peace!

THERE WAS A TIME RELIGION DIDN'T EXIST. WITH INTELLIGENCE COMES THE NEED TO KNOW THAT THERE IS SOMETHING BETTER AND YOU DON'T JUST STOP BEING. ALL THE STORIES RELIGION SPOUTS HAVE BEEN BED TIME STORIES WITH ARMS AND LEGS ADDED. ADAM & EVE MUST HAVE BEEN SINGLE CELLED BACTERIA. THATS HOW LIFE STARTED THEN SLOWLY EVOLVED. THE START OF OUR SUN SPINNING MADE THE EARTH NOT GOD. I COULD RATTLE ON BUT I'D BE HERE ALL NIGHT.

I'm an atheist because it makes the most sense to me. It makes no sense whatsoever to believe in gods, so...
