depends on your flat iron, if its a rather large one like 2'' you probably won't be able to curl, but you could possibly flip it.
you really can curl with the 1'', and maybe some 11/2'' ones. simply treat it as if you were using a curling iron. you'll get the hang of it in no time

I have a 1 1/2 flat iron that seems to work better than any curling iron I've ever used. I have long, fine hair that's usually difficult to curl. What I do is I start with the iron 2-3 inches away from the root. I twist the iron once, wrapping my hair around the iron, so my hair is looped once around it. Then I slowly pull the iron toward the tips of my hair, as if I was actually trying to straighten it. I end up with very loose, wavy curls. It takes some practice to determine how much hair you can curl at one time, and how quickly to use the iron. Good luck!

My hair is extremely hard to curl, but it can be curled with a straightener. All size straighteners will curl, but the smaller ones do make tighter curls. My best friend is a hair dresser and she wraps my hair around the straightener, much as you would wrap it around a curling iron. Her straightener is an extremely high temperature model (300 degrees) so she doesn't leave my hair wrapped around it for very long, but lower temerpature models may require additonal time.

it all depends on your hair type. like if it can hold curl easy then it should work. to do it just roll it up like a hair curler and let go. && also they have curlers and straightners in one so that could be it. hope this helped. :)

It makes it square-ish so I don't do that. It just can make the ends flip out.
