Well lots of people are saying that the mental faculties required to make a decision cannot be free.
So its up in the air.
It depends what you believe: If you believe that no one has free will, but you believe murderers should be punished. Then yes, neither has free will but still gets punished.
If you believe we make decisions and have free will then it seems ridiculous an omniscient loving creator would set us up for a fall.

Absolutely NOT!
They were simply part of the PLAN of Yahweh. A plan that, BEFORE THEY WERE CREATED, called for a plan of redemption from the fall they were going manifest. HOW? I Genesis 1:14-16 the 'seasons' the sun, moon, and stars are speaking of are the APPOINTED FESTIVALS. One of which calls for the lamb to be killed. This is what Abel was killing a lamb for, the early form of Passover. And that is when Abraham also offered Isaac, and then a ram appeared for his substitute. The fact that is was part of the plan all along prives they did not have free will. Free will is simply a manifestation of the rejection of Yahweh's soverighnty. It is therefore a manifestation that those that manifest such are not chosen by Yahweh, nor filled with His Spirit. Though it may be that they just have not yet understood that fact.
Yahweh is the POTTER, not Adam and Eve.

I agree with Zoidberg. How could they choose if they did not have the capacity to do so? They had it pretty straight forward. God said here is the garden and all you may eat accept one. So, even if they were did not have the capacity they had the knowledge as given by God.
I have never punished a rock for falling on me but I have turned many a rock into gravel because it displeased me. I have also done similar to various things that displeased me.

Since before eating from that tree, they could not have had the knowledge of good or evil, there is no way they could be considered to be committing an evil act by eating of it. God knew it to be evil but they didn't and so they were innocent.

Picture this.......before Adam and Eve ate the from the tree of knowledge of good and evil they were ignorantly blissful......kinda like two small children running around in a garden in the nude. When they ate it, they suddenly became aware that they were full grown adults running around in a garden butt naked. I don't think they knew the full ramifications of the choice, but it was a choice. Unfortunately for them, one can't return to ignorant bliss once the curtain has been drawn....Fortunately for us, this choice allowed humanity as we know it to unfold.

knowlege of good and evil... think of it in today's terms...
sin is an act of opposition to the catholic church... that is the original meaning of sin.... knowlege of good and evil exposes the catholic church as evil.... it's a form of slavery... it deceives.... it lies... they've been doing it for a long time... here are a couple of quotes from catholic big wigs...
"How well we know what a profitable superstition this fable of Christ has been for us"
Pope Leo X (1513-1521 CE)
"It is an act of virtue to deceive and lie, when by such means the interest of the church might be promoted"
Bishop Eusebius (260-339 CE)
these are the kind of communications and letters the church hides in it's basements.... that far back they spoke freely not expecting their words could be so vastly shared in our times...

Yes- they had agency.
I think they get a bad wrap for what they did. I think they understood on some level and they did it on purpose. Without that act, none of us would be here. humanity could not continue until they made that Choice.

Yes, they had the potuit non peccare - the abilitiy to sin, or not. They had the free will to trust God and not sin. We now live in a time of non potuit non peccare - the inability not to sin. We are sinners by nature due to the fall.
