I'm not an atheist, but some of my atheist friends celebrate a holiday called HumanLight instead of Christmas. It's a humanist holiday.

Actually, it would not be a bad thing to have an atheist "recognition" day. But I don't think it needs to be a celebration necessarily.
I would say it should be more like "Black Awareness Week" or something similar.
It would just be a day (or a week) where secularists of all types could learn more about the history of secular society, important figures, get involved with activism, etc.
As for a date? I don't know, isn't there a dry spot for holidays after January?

An atheist holiday would just further the stereotype that atheists have a basic belief structure which is just not the case. Atheism is only the lack of belief in a higher power and uniting atheists in any other beliefs would not be helpful for the "cause".

Hmm... June 22 sounds greater like summer season solstice to me. Plus, why have fun his demise? Carlin grow to be born on would 12. that must be the non-religious trip date. Granted, June 22 is closer to Fathers' day and my dad appreciates Carlin probable greater desirable than my mom, yet I nonetheless think of it won't be a party of his demise. I ought to paintings right this moment in any case. Sorry!

I enjoy Christmas...which is probably laughable to you guys, being I am an Athiest, but I think it is a great time of year. Everyone is so giving, everyone wants to help the underprivelaged children, and feed struggling families. When I have children they will celebrate Christmas and I will teach them the meaning of it. I will teach them of many cultures and religions and allow them to live by whichever they choose, even if it is Christianity.

Thumbs down to anyone who says "April 1st'.
I suppose the only day that would be common to all atheists would be "God Doesn't Exist Day". But it seems sort of silly. It would make more sense to have 'Humanism Day', or 'International Day of Reason' or something like that. ...the nice thing is, these would not be something only atheists could identify with.

Holidays aren't about religion any more. They are simply so money whores like Walmart can continue sucking the life out of the world.

Why not adopt Earth day, my understanding is that atheists believe the Earth is their final resting day for eternity so why not celebrate the Earth more.

We already have holidays for atheists: Christmas, New Year's, Memorial Day, Independance Day, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving.
I don't know any atheists who are excluded.
