Look deep inside yourself and give me an honest answer to this hypothetical. If you were born into, for example, a devout moslem family, went to Mosque 5 days a week, prayed and read the Koran--wouldn't you be just as devout a moslem. Wouldn't you be absolutely sure than Allah was the one true God. If you have the guts to answer yes to this, then doesn't that say that religion is more about what you were brought up (moslems and christians i almost would say brainwashed) to believe and not about the actual "truth" of the religion.

I rather thought the devout would us this as a bully pulpit--and not actually answer the question. An honest answer from the devout would take hard thought lol.

I am a Christian, and I know for a fact that if you are not "devout"(at least by my definition of "devout"), you are most likely not going to be in heaven. If you are a true Christian and truly love the Lord, you will want to be devout, and therefore will BE devout.

There is only one truth. I am sure if someone sincerely asks God and seeks him, even if he is a devout Muslim, he will come to know the truth. God knows who wants to know the truth. For me, it took a scary NDE which I don't think anyone would want to go through. I did accept Christ but did it cause I liked the person who witnessed to me on the street of New Orleans. I didn't think it was real so I repeated some things about being a sinner. You see, I thought I was a good person. What happened after that is kind of scary but I did believe. So, even though a person is a devout in whatever, God can change them if they truly want to know the truth and seek him.

What you are saying has merit and it can possibly be true in some cases. That is why people once they start looking for evidences and truth inside there own religions and beliefs and start thinking about life after death and so on and if they want to find answers most will but some give up and do not want to know the truth that is in Jesus Christ. There is so much proof that Jesus Christ is alive and saves people every day that those who really want to know the truth will find it and it is available to everyone freely.

I can not explain to you what you do not want to understand. It is not about want. Perhaps Muslims do indeed have a relationship with God. I don't know. I do know that I, and many Christians that I know do. this is not out of 'want' or repetition, but out of 'knowing' The best I example I might could give you, and this in its self if a very poor one, is if you have every known that someone was behind you, without seeing them, and when you turned to look they actually were, would be about as close as I could give you for an example. We know the God we serve.

They thought Jesus was out of his mind
they laughed and mocked him
Called him a cult leader and they tried to stop him
Pharisees said Christ got his power from Satan
Hatin', on the very one that came to save 'em
Even after he rose, man the world ain't changed
They still rejecting the name, still look at us strange
Still tell us without shame that our faith's insane
and, "it don't take all that to be a Christian man"
And its hard when you tryin to reach your family and stuff
They say man, "you too spiritual, you doing to much"
So we show them the love of Christ and live in the light
So they can glorify our God when they look at our life
And we win for sharing the truth and hearts get changed
We win if we're rejected because of his name
We win if seeds get planted and watered and grow
But even if we lost, we still be Fanatical though

Edit> You could make the argument that anybody... athiest, evolutionist, pagan, wiccan, satanist, muslim, catholic etc... was "brainwashed" by their parents or an overzealous teacher or professor. I was not saved until I was 27 y.o. before that I was on drugs, drank daily, had countless sex partners and porn materials, was always depressed and broke (i even dressed emo) since I gave my life to christ I have not had the desire for any of that, I have been clean, sober, I have since been married, I have no financial problems ever, I am always blessed in every area of my life. Now I dont think that any brainwashing could have accomplished that. Only the blood of Christ. So you ask, why so devout, because God delivered me from a life of pain and the least I can do for him is serve him and the people he puts into my life.

Devoutly religious practices you should say.A lot of what you say is true but it's not the whole story. The majority do believe and are following the faith of their families. This is what you're missing what we believe is our starting point but we're established by what we know.I was taught to follow my parents faith but it wasn't until God revealed it to me that I"m now able to serve Him devoutly. At age 33 and only then did I know truly that Jesus is Lord. There is no true devout person except those to whom God has chosen to reveal Himself. And I say also to those of you who follow the faith and have not had a true revelation stand strong in your faith, your Heaven Father knows your name and in due time He will honor your faith.

Yes I would and no it doesn't say that. What it says is that the universal truth underlying the religions goes by many names.
