Funny you asked this question, as I just had ribs last night from the slow cooker......they were beef short ribs and I did them in 2 cans of French Onion Soup (Campbells) and one can of water and let them go in high for 12 hours.......You know that the ribs are tender when you go to pick them up and the bone stays in the crock pot and the meat releases from it.......Gee, those were great!!! And so simple, just the soup and the ribs........came out perfectly.....BTW, if you go to the major food manufacturer websites, they have literally hundreds of slow cooker recipes

CampbellsKitchen.com
Pillsbury.com
BettyCrocker.com

Those should give you a good start........

At least you're realistic about the amount of preparation you're willing to do. Your local library probably has several cookbooks which contain nothing but slowcooker recipes, and other cookbooks with slowcooking sections. If your library doesn't have these books, ask the librarian for an interlibrary loan. My basic recipe is to put a large chunk of some sort of meat in the cooker, add a little liquid, and possibly add some minced dried onions. The minced dried onions can be found in the spice & seasoning section of the store, and they work very well in a slow cooker. I think that they taste better than fresh onions, and they are certainly much faster to use. The cheaper cuts of meat are actually better in a slow cooker than the more expensive ones. The cooker will give the cheap cuts time to break down over the long cooking period. So, use dark chicken meat, thighs or drumsticks, rather than breasts. Use a chuck or 7 blade roast, rather than round. Canned broth is great to put in a slow cooker, or use flavor base, mixing it with a little hot water. I like Better than Buillion flavor base, as it has a lot less sodium than buillion cubes. Wine is a great liquid to add, too. Just remember that slow cooking will produce a lot of liquid, and you usually won't need to add more than a cup. Slow cooking is a great way to keep from heating up the house, too.

Here's a good one:

Lazy Man's Ribs
From Taste of Home's Simple & Delicious

INGREDIENTS
2-1/2 pounds pork baby back ribs, cut into eight pieces
2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
1 medium onion, sliced
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup orange juice
1/3 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup molasses
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon barbecue sauce
1 teaspoon stone-ground mustard
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon Liquid Smoke, optional
Dash salt
5 teaspoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon water

SERVINGS 4

DIRECTIONS
Rub ribs with Cajun seasoning. Layer ribs and onion in a 5-qt. slow cooker. In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, orange juice, vinegar, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, barbecue sauce, mustard, paprika, garlic powder, Liquid Smoke if desired and salt. Pour over ribs. Cover and cook on low for 5-1/2 to 6-1/2 hours or until meat is tender.

Remove ribs and keep warm. Strain cooking juices and skim fat; transfer to a saucepan. Combine cornstarch and water until smooth; stir into juices. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Serve with ribs.

I like to use boneless skinless chicken breast and put it in the slow cooker with a can of cream of chicken soup(mixed with a can of water), some salt and pepper, and some chicken broth. I normally serve it over noodles, the chicken falls apart and is really moist and tender

other than soup and baked beans, I have made bbq pulled pork...

I took a small pork loin and placed it in the crockpot and poured a bottle of bbq sauce over it. If you like a lot of bbq, then use two bottles, but add water to cover up the pork loin. Salt and pepper and add any other seasonings in there (I did not have enough salt in mine) but I cooked it on low for 9 hours and the pork loin just came apart with a fork....we made bbq sandwiches....
