There are a range of reactions. Most people are not even interested - they have more in their lives. Of those who are interested:- Generally, if the guy was really ugly, people would think that he was rich. Men the same age as he is will be envious, but some of them may try to take liberties with the girl. Women of his age get really hostile, because they find it terribly upsetting that they or their divorced friends cannot get a man. There is almost no difference in the divorce rate as between couples of the same age and couples where the girl is at least 22 and the man is more than 10 years older or more. It is better to be an older man's darling, than a young man's slave. The real people to worry about are the girl's relatives - particularly the mother. Feminists cannot take it - unless it is Monica - then it is something you do not discuss!

16 will get you 20 is the old saying goes (20 years in prison) don't tempt an older man into committing a crime stick to your own age bracket. Most guys like younger girls because girls mature faster than boys so when you are realizing your plumbing (for lack of a better word) is for more than going to the bathroom boys are still riding bikes, playing with bugs, and discussing how icky girls are. So by time they catch up you're all dating college guys with cars and jobs. We have to go for the younger girls who are as stupid as we are. It's not fair but life isn't either younger women will always seek older men and the reverse.

Older guys and younger girls do work out but a 15 year difference at 16 years old is not a good idea. A 31 year old guy has no business being with a 16 year old girl. He would definitely be taking advantage of you, even if you initiated it, and he could go to jail. Stick with boys closer to your age.

First you should not ask him out until your 18 at least.
Even then you should not ask him out.
He will see you as a young, impressionable, and naive person. And depending on what his personality is like will either take advantage of that belief and try to manipulate you or he will be honest and say that your too young for him.
Now on the plus side if you have some life experience maybe in your late 20s you might have something to share with him when he gets into his forties.
Women seem to mature faster than men but 16 is way to young to be with a person that is 31.

Well, I'm 23 and I don't date girls younger than 18. I rather have a girl who is a bit more mature (no offense).
A guy who is in his 30s and would be dating a teenager probably has some issues. Or he really can't get a date his age. The gap is very big and your life experiences really arent the same. So even if he is interested in you, he might act like some sort of father figure to you, or he could be very possessif of you. Either way, you should try to get someone a bit more your age.

Honey, save yourself the embarrassment I am 45 and I have dated many younger woman but that was when I was younger an older man would feel as if he was going out with a child. I prefer the company of an older woman that knows what a man likes.

Whoa...you are way too young to be dating anyone over the age of 18... you need to stick with guys that are under the age of 18.
Plus, you have nothing in common with a man that is twice your age!
David Bowie's Number One Fan - You are 19 and your boyfriend is 50?? He was 31 years old when you were born. That doesn't even remotely gross you out??? This isn't judgmental.. it's a fact.

He will likely tell you that your are too young (unless he is really brave). Unfortunately the government says that you are not an adult until you are 18. As much as it sucks, a 19 year old could actually get in trouble for being with you. I say wait until you are 18 to try and date him. Your chances will be better then.

Ive been going out with a guy for 4 years and he's a year younger than me. I only went out with two guys in my life and they were both a year younger...it worked out perfectly!
We started going out when I was 15 and he was 14. So your all good...just make sure he likes you first before you jump to the opportunity. Good Luck!!
