Muslim patients, plus halal meals as an option, staff are taking part in training sessions to help patients uphold the islamic faith on a daily basis. My god,how much more ridiculous can the UK become in their quest to appease this religion.

How many non-Muslim patients are left to look after themselves while this farce is played out? Do Christians receive any concessions in Muslim coutries? I think not. New Labour are so anxious to please every other religion, all non heterosexual pratitioners, and all ethnic groups that its core membership of British working class people appears to be the lowest of its priorities.
Live and let live, great, but let all receive equal treatment, equal opportunity and equal respect.

Unfortunately it is a big deal. Whilst staff are lugging beds around and fetching and carrying water they could be saving patients lives or preventing suffering.

There is nothing in the Koran that says that you have got to pray 5 times per day when you are sick. If you can you do not need to put other people out.
I blame the SENIOR NURSE MANAGER for being politically correct. As an after thought the non Muslim nurses can refuse on H & S Grounds as well as religious grounds.

Yes I agree with you Colonel, this is a farce. Nurses are trained to tend the sick , and not to push beds around all day. If they all refused they could not implement it. Whoever is responsable for this crazy idea, should be driven out of the Hospital. What would they think if we decided on some crazy idea, and expect them to carry it out....we probably get turfed out of the building. Hospitals are for Sick people, and not for anything else, that included any Faith, or any other crazy idea.

You got to agree with DAR and David the voices of reason and one is a "classic" funny answer. Guess when yo are in the hospital that you need to be cheered up and in good spirits to get well, so be it. When in the hospital it was nice to have the Sisters come by. Take care. I just noticed this is in England, well that changes it as aren't they 60% Muslim now?

Why is this money/time not being spent on extra staffing and training nurses in basic hygiene and cleaning so that patients aren't dying of MRSA and C.diff?

I think we should say to these people this is what we do here either respect it or go somewhere where you will be happy. I think it is a waste of money to run these courses particularly when patients are dying because of filthy hospitals etc. Respect is one think abject compliance is another. Three cheers for the PC brigade.

Do Christians Jews Hindus Buddhists etc. receive the same consideration. Not likely

Nurses have enough to do without messing about with religious cr@p. The Muslims should be greatful for getting treated at all. If they don't like it they could always choose o not be treated.

Well, I'm not there, but I don't have a problem with a hospital trying to accomodate religious beliefs. Where I have a problem is when one belief tries to squelch another, such as people being 'offended' by hearing a friendly 'Merry Christmas', and infringing on someone else's nonaggressive practice of their own religion.

Its not a big deal, I would assume you have no objection to ministers visiting their sick or priests.
Do you also find kosher or vegan meals so off putting?
On the whole, it costs little to nothing and may help an ill person recuperate a little quicker.
Its not the religion, its the person who is ill who needs to eat and feel comfort in a time of stress.
Isn't that the Christian way, after all, to aid those in need?

I am absolutely shocked at the lack of mercy I see here. I thought we had our problems in the USA, but you put us to shame. Do you hate all Muslims so much you can't even bear to see them with the comfort of their religion when they are ill? I used to want to see England more than any other place on earth, now I think I'll stay home.
You have really changed, and not for the better.
Not all Muslims are bombers and fanatics you know.

I agree with DAR. The trouble with Muslims is they will not live happily alongside other religions. The sad fact is if they were more tolerant of others, then others would be more tolerant of them.
