I am trying to put together my centerpieces because the material i have is seasonal, or limited I need to order it all now. while it is still in stock.

However i don't have my R.S.V.P back yet so I really do not know how many people are attending we are assuming about 50 people but really are not sure.

is it ok for some tables to go without centerpieces.

yes i forgot to mention it is for a wedding the centerpiece are a bit over the top. that is the reason for my concern

Why don't you do the big centerpeice at every other table and a smaller one at the the others? That way it will just look inter-mixed and you will have a little more variety.

Hi and congratulations:

Yes, I don't think that will look right especially with a small reception. If, let's say, you have 8 people per table....you will only need 6 centerpieces (that would be 48 people).

I would scale back the centerpieces to a more affordable price so that you will have enough for all the tables. I would even have 7 centerpieces ready, just in case you have another table to decorate!

It's not going to look right. You should have a backup plan of something you can do for those other tables. It's okay to have a mix of different centerpieces, but you can't just have some tables empty. It will look like you weren't planning on seating them.

The only way around this is if you are having a long head table for the bridal party- you don't need centerpieces on that table, you have have the bridesmaides set their bouquets along the edge of the table.

I would suggest putting all your big centerpieces together. ONce you have all you RSVPS, if you need more tables I would suggest to either use simple vases and fresh flowers that match the other centerpieces, or like another poster said make smaller versions of the big one and alternate the tables. You definitely do not want bare tables, especially if your DJ will be giving away the centerpieces you don't want anyone left out!

If you are short 3 centerpieces, why not make those 3 tables your family's table, the groom's family's table, and the head table... You can hire a florist to do special arrangements for those tables.

Or you could do something very simple on the 3 tables without elaborate centerpieces... something just like candles on a mirror, etc.

As a guest, I would think it odd if most of the tables had elaborate centerpieces, and just a couple had nothing at all.

I was just at a wedding where there were only 3 very large centerpieces and then smalle ones at the other tables. As long as the larger ones are balanced in the area, it will look nice. The smaller ones don't have to be the same as the larger ones, but should have an accent flower that is in the larger one.

Yes!

I put live flower centerpieces at every table and I really wish I would have saved the money and did about half the tables.

Looking back on the wedding, I doubt whether one single guest even noticed/remembered that every table had flowers on it....they were too busy having fun and enjoying themselves to care about details like that.

People don't remember the centerpieces unless they are stunning or really bad (blocking views and conversations for example). However I think it would be odd for some tables not to have anything. It's better to have too much of something and then sell it later than to not have enough. That goes for anything.

I would plan on leaving no more tables w/out centerpieces than bridesmaids you have, If you need to have bare tables put the bridesmaids bouquets in the centers

make extra and you can always use them somewhere else (the present table, the cake table, the table with the seating cards, etc)
