I guess it must be made up of primarily Jews, Muslims, atheists and Pagans, right? Or are all of these anti-Christian legislative tangoes being perpetrated by... Christians?
Okay, that's just the set up for the question. What I really want to know is this: do you believe that the US government should do what the majority wants, or that they should protect the rights of the minority to have different religious views from the majhority?

LOL... to answer a frequently asked question here: I have NO IDEA what laws they're always whinging on about. I think whoever said leading prayers in schools probably came closest to why some American Christians think they are persecuted. Thanks, Diane, for stickin' up for me! ;-)

Most people in Congress are openly Christian. All the others are rare, especially Muslims atheists, and pagans. I'm sure there are a few Jews here and there but it certainly doesn't outnumber Christians.
And once again I have heard of no law that persecutes Christians. You will have to be more specific Unless your idea of "persecution" is not being able to lead prayers in school

I'm thinking you are being facetious, and that most folks have missed that. It's pretty obvious that our congress is made up primarly (probably almost exclusively) by folks that claim to be of Christian faith. Laws that are made don't persecute Christians, although that is a claim made by many who are more interested in a theocracy than a democracy.
Our constitution is clear on this issue, and our country should uphold it's obligation to support it:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
In the last several years, we have probably seen more in the way of abridging freedom of speech than we have in decades. The persecution, through things like the Patriot Act, is mainly on our constitutional rights of freedom...not freedom of religion.

Protecting Christians and the rest requires the same actions. For example, when asked if their children should be lead in Muslim or Hindu prayer, Christians suddenly recognize that secularism is best. When asked if all creation stories should be taught along with evolution, suddenly just teaching what science demonstrates is best. They only feel persecuted because their mythology tells therm they will be.

What does it matter? The whole world is in a state of erosion. Yes, even the greatest nation on earth testifies to this (those who've been on vacation haven't noticed yet). America is fast becoming an anti-God nation without the need for legislative actions.
You are becoming a world citizen with or without your knowledge or consent. Soon, perhaps no ones rights will be protected except for those of them who can well afford it.

The rights of the minority should be protected. I happen to think that's what the majority wants, too.
Edit: Hey, guys. She wasn't serious about the laws persecuting Christians.

Christians are less targeted by the laws of the USA than non-Christians especially Pagans. I think the government should take its blooming hands off the whole religion issue and leave them off!

I would take it a step further to say individual rights should be protected. I am a Christian and I think that removing rights from anyone (whether I agree with them or not) is a slippery slope. I want Big Brother to stay out of my life and I think that should go for everyone else, not just me.

Actually, the founding fathers were very concerned about the tyranny of the masses and the possbility of the oppresion of the minority by the majority. It is why we currently have a Bill of Rights. Some Christians really need to read it sometime.

There has never been a law passed by our government that persecutes Christians.
Edit - What is truly sad is that it was a Catholic family that started the lawsuit to eliminate faculty led prayer in school and it was a Mormon family that started the lawsuit to eliminate student led prayer in school.
Since both the Catholics and Mormons believe in Jesus, it was the Christians that were "persecuting" Christians.

The government should protect the rights of as many people as it can. Our government rarely persecutes real Christians. Why would they?
