When I worked in and later was part owner in a shop we didn't have Jan. sales. We would close for 3-4 weeks for vacation/inventory etc. (this was 25 years ago) Business was so slow for us at that time of year discounts were not advertised as we sold almost no bikes anyway. If someone asked for a discount we would do so. We had standard sales times of Late Feb. to April, Mid fall and December sometimes.

Yes, but not in January. Usually, shops will sell off older stock, just before the new comes in. This will typically be in late spring. However, although you can get a good percentage off for an 06 model, typically you will not save any more on the 05. There is a minimum amount that bikes sell for.

Sales are usually towards the end of the year right before the next years models come out...
