I know this is silly, but a friend of mine thinks that cheaper milk like the store brand milk is processed differently than a big name brand like Goldenrod and is not as good for you. Enlighten me!!!

I don't think so. If you look at the whole peanut butter incident that happend a little while ago, they said how Jiffy had to recall even another peanut butter that they sell under a different, lower cost, name. So most of the time thoseitems come from the same company. If not the same company as the big name vendors, then some smaller company that may make the same product but sell it cheaper. That is my guess.

There is no difference at all. Much of the store brand milk will come from the same farms, the same cows as the premium brand milk. It's just packaged differently.

The store brand milk is cheaper because they buy it directly from the producers rather than from another packaging company.

Milk is milk.

There is a difference not only in price but in how it is processed, stored, shelf life etc. Taste can be a big difference even. My sister used to tell me about a brand that tasted better than others I thought she was nuts til I tried it myself and can taste a difference. This particular one I have had has even gone a week out of date and still taste fine. Others I have had won't even go to the expiration date til it is bad. The basics are the same you just have to decide what is right for you. A friend of mine uses organic milk. She says it is much higher but she can get a shelf life of a month out of it and says taste is better.

Actually, my kids prefer the store brand milk. I live in Florida (USA) and Publix, one of the supermarket chains I patronize is very picky about their milk. They have an employee who's job is to make sure all the cows on the contracted dairy farms eat exactly the right food. The store brand milk is more expensive and it claims to be free of growth hormones. Personally, I can't tell the difference but my kids sure can!

Some store brands have Artificial Growth Hormones. I usually stick with Hood, Garelick Farms, etc. Don't buy milk from WalMart.

Because there's no central location that all milk can come from. There are literally thousands of dairy farms that provide the country's milk supply. There are name-brand milk substitutes and lactose-tolerant milk.
