That's odd. I'm probably your mother's age, married the second time to a first-time groom, and didn't even consider having a bridal shower. First of all, I'm not sure her fiance is behind this. Men usually don't even think about bridal showers and most aren't into kitchen gadgets. Unless the registry is filled with gadgets a guy would like, I wouldn't be so quick to cast blame on him. Re. the bridal shower, you will not be able to convince her that a traditional bridal shower is not proper. Your choices are to "just say no" and don't throw the shower and let the chips fall where they may, or allow yourself to be pressured into an etiquettely incorrect shower to keep the peace. You're in a difficult position, and I'm not sure she would go for a compromise non-traditional shower if she's so dead-set on those shower gifts. If you invite everyone to a "shower" but there is no shower of gifts, she'll probably be even more pissed than if you stood your ground and didn't have one. I can't tell you which choice to make, but if you feel strongly you don't want to do this, don't let yourself be pressured. P.S. I love Suz123's idea of a pantry shower. Sounds like a win-win for everyone. :-)

I'm with Precious on that one. Just tell them to get out. Swing the door open, dump a bucket of cold water into the shower or something.

Give them a time to be in and out. Put hair driers in other rooms.

Maybe your kid is already in that age where he or she does some "extra-curricular" activity in the bathroom.
