It came from the Bible
The whole "Skin the color of wet sand" and "Hair like sheep's wool", kinda gives it away.
And the Jews you are thinking about are of European stock. Try looking at the people coming from that region of the world

He had darker skin because he was from the Middle East but he was not black. If he was either white or black, he would have stuck out like a sore thumb and people would be gossiping that his mother slept with a travelling merchant.
He wasn't white either like modern paintings and medieval stained glass depict. Not all Jews are white. Those are European Jews which are a fairly recent breed in the grand scheme.

I don't mean this to be smart aleck, but why is it of a concern to you. Does it really matter as to what Jesus' ethnicity truly is if you believe he is the Jesus of the Holy Bible?
Quotes on the subject --
"Different societies have depicted Jesus and most other biblical figures as their own ethnicity in their art; for example he is primarily white in the West, and black in Africa. Such representations are not, in the modern day, usually intended to be historically accurate. The current dominant opinion among historians and scientists is that he most likely had olive skin, resembling modern-day persons of Middle Eastern descent." - From Wikepedia
"In the bible it says that baby Jesus had skin like burnt bronze and hair like lamb's wool. It is unlikely that anybody from that place and time had the blue-eyed appearance of western depictions of the Christ. The Bible also traces his lineage to Africa. The sons of Noah were Shem, Ham and Japheth. Their descendents included the dark skinned peoples of Africa/Arabia. Jesus' lineage from the African branch of the family is through Arphaxad, then Cainan, Salah, Eber, Peleg, Reu, Serug, Nahor, Terah, Abram, Isaac, Jacob, Judah, Perez, Hezron, Ram, Amminadab, Nahshon, Salmon, Boaz, Obed, Jesse, David (according to the Bible).
Jesus was one of most well-known aboriginal activists in history. His methods of Passive Resistance were similar to those of Ghandi, and are still celebrated throughout the world. I'm sure we're all familiar with his lore - "Turn the other cheek" and so forth. He was a tribal leader who died while opposing Roman colonists and the native "Jacky-Jacky" leaders who supported them. It is understandable that these facts might be a little disturbing for people who were raised with an image of Jesus as a mousy little English fella, rather than the African tribal warrior-king that he was. But all the outrage in the world can't hide the fact that the "lamb of God" was actually more like the "lion" we are promised for the "second coming"." -- From suite101.com
I hope this provides you with some insight on the subject.

no, not all Jews are white. European jews are white, but the original hebrews were of Middle Eastern (or arabic, if you will) extraction.
The Middle Easterners, including the Jewish People, in the time of Jesus probably had a naturally dark tan, with dark hair.

All Jews are not white. Jesus wasn't black. He was a Middle Eastern Jew, which is decidedly NOT WHITE. He is commonly depicted as white because the church sanctioned art that depicted him was painted by egotistical, ethnocentric, white clowns who obvious didn't care about reality.

There are black Jews in Ethiopia.
Jesus probably looked like anyone else from the Middle East, with what is commonly termed "swarthy" skin. While no on can be sure what he did look like, its a safe bet to say he did not have the middle European features common in Renaissaince paintings

The Jews you are referring to originated from EUROPE. The Jews in the time of Jesus were middle Eastern. Jesus probably looked a lot like the stereotypical middle eastern man.

Jesus was not "white" he was dark skinned, being from the middle east. Remember He is from the house of David and if you check out the areas in his genealogy you will see that the area was around what is now Egypt, so it would logically be that his skin color was dark. How dark? well does it really matter? He came not to show off his skin color but to buy us to him and free us from sin with the opportunity for everlasting life. I do know this, that his blood was the same color as yours and mine.

Actually, Jesus may have black in him. He is from the line of Moses. Moses's wife was black. By the way, there are black Jews, Indian Jews, and jews of every nationality. It is a religion more than it is race, especially in today's age.

Jesus was not white or black, but brown. Full whites do not have hair of wool. Whites want everything great to be of them but Jesus simply did not have blonde hair. He probably looked like Sadam or Mohamed.
