Bismillāhir-Raúmānir-Raúeem = "In the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Compassionate".
(GOD HEARS THE WORDS OF THE WOMAN)
God hears the words of the woman who complains to Muhammad about the cruelty of her husband; God hears her words when she complains directly to him. God listens to everything that is said; he hears all and observes all.

A man once consulted the Prophet Muhammad about taking part in a military campaign. The Prophet asked the man if his mother was still living. When told that she was alive, the Prophet said: "(Then) stay with her, for Paradise is at her feet." (Al-Tirmidhi)

If you are the sort of Muslim, Christian or Jew who sees the scriptures as the unalterable word of God, then clearly none of them are compatible with feminism. However, branches of these religions have understood the essence of the religious tradition and seen the rest as of the time in which it was written. For example, British Reform Judaism is committed to feminism and has spent a good deal of time and effort in updating the prayer book to avoid sexist language, has encouraged women as rabbis, etc.

In Judaism, traditional Orthodox Judaism, women are considered to be on a higher spiritual level than men are.
However, in the practice of the religion, the men do not allow the women to make up one of the ten persons necessary for a prayer minyan, nor to wear tefillin or a tallit (prayer shawl) nor to learn certain Torah such as the Gemara, etc.
The men say that this is BECAUSE the men themselves are on a lower spiritual level than the women, and that these things are cures for the men's spiritual rectification and that the women do not need these cures as they are already on a higher level.
I do not hold by that, however. If a woman wants to wear a prayer shawl or put on tefillin, or be a part of the minyan, or learn Gemara, she should be able to. In fact, since women are on a higher spiritual level than men, the women should be the ones TEACHING the men, then. However, in traditional Orthodox Judaism, women are not allowed to be Rabbis. This is disgusting, imo. This will also change, as it very slowly changing over time now already.
In biblical times, women were judges, women taught men as well, women made up the minyan, women could wear prayer shawls, etc. Not now. The men have changed that.
So it's a strange kind of thing - women are on a higher spiritual level, yet they are not allowed to do so many things. This is wrong.

Hmm, from a traditional perspective I really don’t think so. The holy texts of these three religions are cruel to women, and even support slavery.
I do think that you could incorporate more modernistic views into the religious teachings, though. But I’d probably be looking more at spirituality (which to me is personal) than organised religion.
Anyways, as far as believing goes, it’ll be hard to reconcile even the most minute feminist views if you look strictly at the scriptures, but I think it’s all very personal so hopefully it’s possible to believe in God and still hold women in equal regards with men.

Christians and Jews do make it compatible somewhat.
Julia D - I think that you look at it he wrong way. I asked my Rabbi friend-coworker- and it just depend on how you look at things really. I respect your view and it may be better than mine anyways since Im not a Jew. But I think you are wrong.

This would depend entirely on how it is defined.
When we come to Jesus Christ, we follow. He has defined roles for each gender through the inspired writings of scripture.
People in the biblical days found Christianity to be especially freeing for the woman, whereas in our day, the accusation is made that it meant to keep women in a lower position.
Also, men in the biblical times thought much had been laid on their shoulders.
This is one of those areas that people tend to read it with what is called ethnocentric eyes. There's the tendency to judge it by our modern cultures.
We are each of us called to be conformed to His image. We are to be imitators of Jesus. We cannot hold onto a philosophy or outlook that is incompatible with the words of God.

No because they are all patriarchal religions. Women in all their holy texts were treated as property, not equals.
If you want something that is compatible with feminism, look into Paganism, Wicca or any of its variants.

You're not going to get serious responses for that one here, honey.
Personally, I believe that those are POLES APART. But I suggest you study the teachings of those three by yourself. Don't depend on what you hear here.
All three have some beuatiful teachings on how to respect women, but mostly it's ''woman is property.'' Respecting property doesn't really qualify as feminism.

Looking at the time period and region those religions came from and the prevailing practices there to this day I'm going to say no. No, but the tides of change are inevitable. And religion can't win.
