Depends on your state and local laws and the type of crime he/she committed.
In the city I patrol, if the juvenile committed a minor crime such as theft; property damage or simple battery, my officers would just issue a citation. But on some more major crimes such as auto theft; carrying a weapon (knife; gun; etc), the juvenile would be jailed until the case is reviewed by the DA the next day.
So again, it depends on the type of crime and how your state or local jurisdiction handles them.

He can be held until a court hearing where bail is established and can be held after that until the bail is paid
