My best friend wants to become a police "woman" but her fiance just got accused of something (don't know what he did yet) and got sent to jail upto the court date comes. Can she still become a cop if her husband to be goes to prison or jail? I heard somewhere that it's really tough to get into the police dept if you have family that has been to prison or have broken the law. Is this true?

Just because you have a record, arrest record, and or even a conviction does not mean you cant become a police officer. Moreover, if your spouse was or is in jail does not mean you cant become a police officer. However, she must be prepared to discuss it and have a truthful explanation of it.

No! First she is not married to this person yet and if she is going to marry a person that now has a questionable background, then she seems to be a person who is unable to make good sound decisions if she becomes a police officer.
Your friend needs to think about what she wants because once you decide to be on the side of justice you can't be with people who think they are above the law. There is a conflict of interest.

If she wants to become a police officer, she needs to seriously reexamine her relationship with this guy. Not exactly the company she needs to keep. And yes, it could affect her job down the line when it comes to her fitness reports. Especially if he gets into trouble again. It would probably show up under the heading of "Judgment".
