If we live in a vast multiverse populated with enumerable universes that contain no life and only a handful that do, would not this be evidence that there is no intelligent designer?

If an intelligent designer did exist wouldn't he have just made one universe that had everything contained in the multiverse without the unpopulated universes that exist in the multiverse?

I do understand that this is only a hypothesis.

I can understand your question but I cannot understand why you would want to believe in or discuss so-called intelligent design in the first place. It is a modern myth , a purely human invention with no scientific basis and is not even taken seriously by theologians. Fundamentalists choose to believe it but it has no place in mainstream religion

Alternate reasons:

- The designer wasn't always as intelligent as now. Those unsuitable universes were botched attempts where the designer learned what didn't work.

- This universe was created by an intelligent designer who became even more intelligent and made more universes that didn't have pests like us in it.

- The designer likes to create places for vacation where no one bothers him/her.

- The unsuitable universes are the source of stuff used to make the suitable universes.

- The unsuitable universes are actually hell for animals that never do anything evil before they die, such as puppies or fluffy bunnies. They are standing by just in case.

- There are many designers, each the creator of a universe, and this universe happened to get a smart designer.

I think you've misunderstood the concept of the multiverse. Your whole idea of some verses being populated and others not is totally off. This is not remotely accurate or suggested, ever, by theories supporting the multiverse.

We don't know if the multiverse is real... however, one day we may know.

And yeah, it would be strange for a creator to make infinite universes, just so he could make humans in one of them.

Actually, if there are an infinite amount of universes then there would be an infinite amount that support life.

Either way, there isn't any evidence that there is a designer.
