Myth
1. a traditional or legendary story, usually concerning some being or hero or event, with or without a determinable basis of fact or a natural explanation, esp. one that is concerned with deities or demigods and explains some practice, rite, or phenomenon of nature.
2. stories or matter of this kind: realm of myth.
3. any invented story, idea, or concept: His account of the event is pure myth.
4. an imaginary or fictitious thing or person.
5. an unproved or false collective belief that is used to justify a social institution

The bible 100% fits this description. My question to you is I'm sure what the Greeks believed in seems silly to you as it does to me. Why is your story the truth and theirs fake? What proof do you have that they're not right and your story is? Please no bible passages or stupid short answers praising god because that just makes you look like a ignorant person and will further prove my point. My Christian GF and I discussed this last night

I'm getting a lot of answers saying it's not. If it's not than why would you believe in something that is obviously not true and not even close to being believable?

"Only in Christianity do we have the person of Christ who claimed to be God, performed many miracles to prove His claim of divinity, who died and rose from the dead, and who said that He alone was the way the truth and the life (John 14:6). All this adds to the legitimacy and credibility of Christianity above all other religions"

Oh really? You were there to see that? All you did was read a story about it. I could just as easily say that Greek mythology is the only true religion because I read about it.

DO YOU agree with the logic of this Bible writer? Mankind has experienced some 2,000 years of scientific advancement since that verse was penned. Does anyone still think that the design evident in nature requires belief in a Designer, a Creator—God?

Even in industrialized countries many people would say yes. In the United States, for example, a survey conducted by Newsweek magazine in 2005 found that 80 percent of people “believe that God created the universe.” Is this belief due to a lack of education? Well, do any scientists believe in God? The science journal Nature reported in 1997 that almost 40 percent of biologists, physicists, and mathematicians surveyed believe in a God who not only exists but also listens to and answers prayers.

Hi,

1) The characters from Herod The Great to Pilate and the Roman occupation was true and documented by other sources

2) The roman historians Tacitus, Suetonius, Pliny and the collaborate Josephus mention Jesus in passing.

3) Crucifixion was the punishment for certain types of criminals that were not Roman citizens.

Real horses with wings through to the Minotaur have never been recorded as real seen for that matter.

"The proof", as they say, "is in the pudding", or "the proof of the pudding is in the eating." (either way).

The idea behind the Greek and Roman mythological gods was a cute idea, but it had nothing to do with our daily lives.

A person who was a slave to some kind of addiction would remain a slave to that addiction till their dying day, no matter HOW much they prayed to their gods.

When a person has an encounter with Jesus Christ, their lives are drastically changed.

The power of God can make a wrong one right, a bad one good. It can heal the sick, and change a person's heart. When a person is submitted to God's authority in their life, even mental disease (such as depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, et cetera) have to bow to the authority of God, and has to "flee".

Have you ever seen a $120.00 a day heroine addict clean up in 90 seconds? I have. Me and some friends prayed for this one guy as he was beginning to go through withdrawals, and within a minute and a half, he was totally cured and set free. Even he was shocked by the outcome. He cried out (with much surprise) "I - I don't WANT any more! I don't NEED any more!" with such an expression of joy in his face that you KNEW he was touched by God.

There are literally THOUSANDS of testimonial accounts of people whose lives have been transformed by the power of God.

For some more testimonies, visit any Teen Challenge center and talk to the leadership to interview some of their students.

Now, I can already hear the objection rising, "But people can also be helped without God."

Yes, that may well be true, but that simply proves that people CAN be helped. Getting "secular" help does not preclude help from God.

Like I said, "The proof is in the pudding", and the testimonies of thousands and even millions of lives that have been changed should be sufficient evidence for any jury.

You have no idea what the greeks believed. Christianity is not more believable than Greek mythology - both are equally plausible, and serve similar purposes. Your question assumes 1) the 19th century understanding of Greek myth and religion, and 2) the 20th century American, sola-scriptura interpretation of both Christianity and the Bible.

In short, the Greeks were monotheists, and it is doubtful whether any ancient Greek ever believed that his mythology was literal history. The same is true for Christianity (even in the Medieval era), with the exception of the 10% of modern Evangelical Prostestants who happen to dominate the religious landscape in the United States.

Critics often ask why Christianity is any better than any other religion in the world. After all, of all the religions that exist how can it be that only Christianity is true? If God exists, why can't God use different religions? Don't all paths lead to God? Skeptics ask these kinds of questions all the time and, unfortunately, few Christians have the the answers. Therefore, in an attempt to demonstrate why Christianity is true and all other religious systems are false, I've prepared the follow list of reasons for Christianity's superiority.

"Either Jesus is true and all other religions are false or other religions are true and Jesus is false. There are no other options."
There are such things as absolute truths
If truth is relative, then the statement that truth is relative is an absolute truth and would be self defeating statement by proving that truth is not relative. But, if truth is absolute, then the statement "truth is absolute" is true and not self defeating. It is true that truth exists. It is true that truth will not contradict itself as we have just seen. In fact, it is absolutely true that you are reading this paper.

If we can see that there is such a thing as truth in the world, then we could also see that there can be spiritual truth as well. It is not absurd to believe in spiritual absolutes anymore than physical or logical absolutes. Even the statement that all religions lead to God is a statement held to be a spiritual absolute by many people. This simply demonstrates that people do believe in spiritual truth. Why? Because truth exists. However, not all that is believed to be true actually is true. Furthermore, all belief systems cannot be true since they often contradict each other in profound ways -- and truth is not self-contradictory.

Why should anyone trust in Christianity over Islam, Buddhism, Mormonism, or anything else? It is because there are absolute truths, because only in Christianity is there accurate fulfilled prophecies of a coming Messiah. Only in Christianity do we have the extremely accurate transmission of the eyewitness documents (gospels) so we can trust what was originally written. Only in Christianity do we have the person of Christ who claimed to be God, performed many miracles to prove His claim of divinity, who died and rose from the dead, and who said that He alone was the way the truth and the life (John 14:6). All this adds to the legitimacy and credibility of Christianity above all other religions -- all based on the person of Jesus. If follows that if it is all true about what Jesus said and did, then all other religions are false because Jesus said that He alone was the way, the truth, and the life and that no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). It could not be that Jesus is the only way and truth and other religions also be the truth.

Either Jesus is true and all other religions are false or other religions are true and Jesus is false. There are no other options. I choose to follow the risen Lord Jesus.

define believe. faith. it means believing in something without proof, without reservations. everything in the world is about faith. not only the bible. you sound pretty cynical......well everything in the world can be a myth if you don't believe it. like....do we really exist? or is nothing real? maybe nothing in this world is actually real and we don't really exist. who can tell us for sure what is real and what's not, what's true and what's false? no one has that ability. how can you really prove anything? so yes, it's true that christianity is not more believable than greek mythology, but hell, nothing is.

The main difference for the secular world is that there is more documentation for the Bible than any other subject ever written about. Documentation of mythology is comparatively scant.

The Greeks didn't cut down Pine trees and present them with Gifts. So clearly they had it wrong.

Christianity has to be more believable because Jesus was so unique, just like Horus.
