I have felt "blessed" in the sense that I know I am following Christ and being a means by which I am "helping" those ancestors.

I think the "real" or main blessing will come on that day, after I am deceased and am entering the next life in the eternities, that I meet and greet those deceased ancestors and they come up to me and thank me for doing those sacred ordinances for them when I was alive here. That will be the blessing. The joy of seeing their gratitude is the blessing that will be remarkable.

I would say I have been blessed in two ways:
1. serving people makes me happy.
2. As an LDS member, going to the temple allows me to set aside my worries and stress and to draw closer to God.

Other than simply an increased happiness in life, I cannot think of other specific blessings I have received, but that is good enough for me.

I also think that knowing that you are giving your ancestors a chance to accept the blessings of priesthood ordinances brings with it a sense of fulfillment.

My suggestion is that if you are interested, go ahead and do it. Unless you believe that they will be cursed by allowing them to receive their priesthood ordinances by proxy in the temple. I don't see what it can hurt.

We get many blessings when we do temple work.

Just go ahead and submit the names. Your ancestors have the right to accept or reject the work done for them. The blessings will be great for you and them.

I would roll over in my ashes if my children tried to do that to me. It is MY choice what happens, they have no business doing anything of the sort without my permission.

Well your ancestors or who you did the ordinances in the temple for will thank you in the here after. But if you don't believe in Mormonism...then why do it?

Blessed? What do you mean? We do temple work for the names submitted, but we don't bless ourselves.

My ancestors have not been baptized :(
...well.. not that I know, but I will have to travel to my country and do the impossible to find those names and papers, someday I will and yeah, that would be a blesssing.
