David, contrary to your first received answer, we - the VTs - are far from worthless as we are human beings.
Anyway, Welcome to VTs 101:
VT = Vile Temptress
This stemmed from a well loved participant on R&S, Rachel, who is a Christian, but because she does NOT attack folks of other faiths and because she continually questions Christianity and the Bible so as to gain better insight into her own beliefs and greater understanding of her faith - she was attacked by a Christian Radical (who I suspect goes to Westboro Church! LOL) - he harrassed Rachel, he cloned her account, sent her pretty scary/threatening emails and publicly called her a VILE TEMPTRESS on here. THAT's how it all started.
Originally other Christian female participants who carried the same non-judgemental, seeking more knowledge, open-minded atttitudes, began calling themselves VTs as a show of support for Rachel.
After many months, I do believe we currently have VTs from various Faith backgrounds and I think that's AWESOME!
The original VTs formed a band - I am that band's drummer!

I'm not up on the lingo either--I know VT is vile temptress, which someone was called at some point, and they then adopted for themselves and others joined in. AM, no idea.

Its in reference to a couple of goofy statements made in the recent past. AM stands for Atheist Mafia and VT stands for Vile Temptress.

VT= Vile Temptress, the local goddesses of R&S. (Started when a moronic fundie started harrassing the women of R&S. They took the slurs he used against them as a badge of pride.)
