It would be:

a. an emulsion if it were a homogenized peanut butter

c. suspension if it were a "natural" non-homogenized peanut butter, as the peanut oil would naturally separate from the peanut mass......


That type of substance would fit neither the colloids or soultions category.......unless you were to use the peanut butter in a recipe (like a Satay sauce) where other ingredients would be incorporated.......Enjoy!!

Think of it this way: The different molecules are temporarily suspended in the mixture when it has been stirred, until they left to rest, at which time they will separate from each other.

suspensions...when you mix them they combine and appear to go into solution, but eventually it settles back out.
