I think I’m going to make them for dinner and I want something good. I have bricks of mild cheddar & jalapeno jack at home, but I’m planning to stop on the way home at a store with a good cheese & bread selection.

I appreciate suggestions, but I won’t eat processed cheese. It has to be real.

The two cheeses that you have should make a killer grilled cheese sandwich......I love my grilled cheese with ham and fresh tomatoes on the vine (yeah, they're expensive this time of year, but the actually TASTE like a tomato!!!) and a couple very thin slices of red onion.......That and a bowl of cream of tomato soup is great tried and true comfort food for rainy days and nights!! Enjoy and BTW, if you like corned beef, you can approximate a Reuben if you'd like........Have a great one.....

I usually enjoy soe french bread or some good sourdough. Using real butter will make it great and for some added falvour make garlic butter. the jalapeno Jack is awesome well the more cheese the better so throw in the chedder as well I also like mozza and something a litlle richer like swiss.

If you want to make it a meal make yourself a monte cristo with some ham/turkey added to your cheese then dip the whole sandwich in a couple of whipped eggs and then grill away one the best sandwiches on the planet.

Enjoy another great grilling bread is some light rye bread while your at it some smoked meat, sauerkraut and hot mustard for a reuben.

Of course always accompanied with some good tomato soup
homemade or Campbells all is good.

I like to add a slice of tomato....not too juicy when I grill it up.

If I don't add tomato, I will definately add some pickle relish.

Butter some good bread, then add cheese to the unbuttered side, and brown on both sides.

Using some cheddar and jalepeno cheese sounds good. I generally just use cheddar. I have made it with pepper jack for a slight kick.

Now, I think I know what I want for dinner! Grilled cheese and tomato soup! Yummmm.

Use the jalapeno jack to add a little twist to your grilled cheese and plain white bread is fine. Butter and grill up and it's delicious.

I like adding tomatoes to mine for that extra texture and I also like a heartier bread than regular white bread.

For a treat, you can also try making it with some brie cheese or another mild, melting cheese and add some turkey and a thin slice of apple or pear and grill up. It's really good and a departure from the normal grilled cheese.

Use real butter to help brown them. Stick to the cheese you have with jalapeno. Get your self some tomato soup and you got it made!
I think regular sliced bread is good to use but, there are some that would use a gourmet bread...I think that alters the taste of the grilled cheese. I know it is all about your taste but consider this, When they created a grilled cheese sandwich I'm pretty sure they used regular bread. The Earl of Sandwich used it to make the first meat sandwich!

I'm for the old fashioned butter, white bread, and American Cheese. When I want to veer from tradition, I add some crisp bacon and a slice of tomato.

Since you don't like processed cheese, just use a cheese that melts well - provolone or the jalapeno jack you already have.

Italian grilled cheese is the best:

Use garlic powder and olive oil on the bread instead of butter, spread a little marinara sauce on the inside of the bread, then fill it with mozzarella and a pinch of parmesan cheese, tomatos and bell peppers.

Use vegetable bread, add chopped onion and diced chicken breast, lots of cheese and real butter on the outside of the bread when you grill it. Yummy! It's called Belle's Bumpy Bonion Grill, from my own recipe book. copyright 2004

No processed cheese? Then try sliced cheddar, sliced ham, sliced tomato, and throw in a little oregano and thyme for good measure.
