I got it in memory of my grandpa when he died. It's supposed to be a lily, but the artist obviously isn't much of an artist. I'm getting it "touched up" today, and was wondering if anyone had suggestions. I was thinking taking out the yellow completely and making it purple and blue. I figure that it's not going to hurt anything if i go and get it touched up.. if it doesn't look good still, then I'll try someplace else. :/
Please, don't be rude. I know it looks like a banana.
It's sort of a touchy situation and I just don't know what to do with it.

Thanks for everyone's advice. I actually went back to the guy and he was very understanding. When I showed it to him, he was very surprised it was his work. He felt terrible, especially since it was in memory of my grandpa. It looks a lot better though. Supposedly he was just having an off day.. which is pretty scary to hear from a tattoo artist, haha.

let me tell you a tip...go to a DIFFERENT tattoo artist to get his touched up..i wouldn't go back to the same one..if i did i'd let him know i wasn't happy with it. That's one of my biggest fears..regretting a tattoo..i was so scared getting mine. but i suggest you get it different colors...light blue and dark pink would look nice. not yellow...weren't you aware what he was doing? because when i was getting mine done i got him to put in in the exact place i wanted it and do it exactly the way i wanted it before i let him touch my skin lol. but it could look worse..so keep your head up and try to be possitive about this...its going to be alright.

hey, if anyone's rude just ignore them coz they're obviously idiots! I made the mistake when I was fifteen of getting some highly visible tattoos in black ink on my arm and luckily I found an artist who was willing to work on a cover up. His name is Chris Lowe and he did an amazing job. He currently works in Maryland though!
One thing you should know about cover ups is they have to be larger than what's already there. My advice to you would be, don't worry too much about getting it redone straight away, I would take time to go out and find a tattooist who you're happy with, ask to see their portfolio and make sure you get on with them! it might be an idea to maybe do the memorial tattoo somewhere else, and take more time deciding on how to convert the existing tattoo. At least that way, you'll be happier with the end result. Good luck! x

i would NOT go have it touched up by the same artist or another one at the same shop. the tattoo itself isn't "awful" just probably not what you wanted. i have definitely seen MUCH worse. you need to do some research and find an artist that will be able to rework the tattoo that you have and make it what you want. it's not going to help anything if you have it touched up and it's not going to make you more happy with the tattoo that you currently have.

seriously, find a good artist and have them rework it into something worth having.
good luck.

i glad you said it because that was what i was thinking. but i know where your coming from i have had to get a touch up because my tattoo did not come out the way i wanted. i think purple and blues will be beautiful agaist your skin. hope it turns out well. also if you want it to look more like a flower have you thought of maybe adding a few leaves or a vine

maybe you can get the artist to design a bigger lily right over it. and if you do get it purple and blue then im sure it can be done especialy since it gonna cover a lighter color like yellow.

just get a bigger lily over the smaller lily
