He has been with me since I was a baby. I was a very sickly child, I just knew. He still brings me hope when things seem hopeless. No one can take this knowledge away from me.

For me, its not so much by reasoning that I came to believe in God as through feeling. Don't get me wrong, I have intellectual reasons for my beliefs. I'd be a fool if I just believed everything without questioning or applying reason. However, when it came down to it, I realized that I knew a lot about God, but didn't really "know" God. Even if you could rationally prove the existance of God, it still isn't the same as experiencing God in your life. I go outside and feel the warmth of the sun on my skin...I experience love, joy, beauty, and compassion...I have ideas like truth and justice...and my heart tells me that there must be some sort of God. To quote Pascal, "The heart has its reasons of which reason knows not. It is the heart which percieves God, not the reason. That is what faith is, God percieved by the heart and not the reason."

As I grew older I had to realize that our world and the universe around us was such an amazing thing that it all did not, could not, or ever will just happen again by chance. As I studied the bible I have gone from one religion to another because what they preached in church and what I read in the bible were two different things. Then my life got out of control and I was miserable. I prayed and I prayed. One day a Jehovahs Witness came to my door and I started to study the bible with them. the bible now makes sense and I know What God is doing and when all things will be right again. My faith in God comes from a life of searching for the truth.

The night I was going to kill myself - GOD had to reach me in a very real, very powerful and very personal way - I would describe it, but every time I do the unbelievers give me all these "thumbs down" and it really hurts my feelings to think some people can be so callous and insensitive to the very real hurt and pain of others.
Even so I'm not really sure why He chose to reveal Himself to me that way and not other people; but He stopped me from pulling the trigger, and I can only assume there is something He would like for me to do with what little time I have left.
I can only hope and pray I will figure it out!

I think it is hard to explain exactly what it is. It's like it says in Taoism. The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao. Basically that which is experienced through spirituality isn't really capable of being explained in word because they can't be encompassed in words. But for me personally I asked a bunch of question and got the answers and was like Wow this is pretty real and felt it in my heart.

I am careful when using the term God because it is typically associated with organized religion, something I do not practice. I do know, from personal experiences, that a higher power exists but I don't believe it is like the God of the Torah, Bible or Qur'an.

First you could study history and our Ancestors..2nd..God is real... where do you think we came from? Our country is based upon God and Christians..have you ever read the coins and dollar bills in your pocket? "In God we trust" Study the KJV Bible and ask his help in understanding.
2nd, Jesus Christ came to me in my time of need..I was in the hospital and had lost my child from Preeclampsia in 2004.. I was in alot of pain, and asked God for mercy and to help me..He INSTANTLY appeared in the rocking chair beside my bed..I thanked him over and over, reaching out to him..I couldn't actually see his features, but he was sitting there in total control..How could you/I not believe on him??..Seconds later..Dr and nurses came in to have me deliver..they expected me to be dead, kidney failure, seizures or a coma..But NO..I got better in a few days and was released.
Dr. said in all his years he had never seen anything like it as bad as I was..he didn't expect me to leave the hospital..but I did and I have GOD to thank for it.
I will tell my story...and not care at all how many thumbs down I get. The people that give thumbs down have to be very sad people, and not enjoy truth with inspiration.
Ask and ye shall receive! Of course, you have to believe upon him and have 'faith'.

i believe in god because i believe that something created the universe and all the laws that govern it. even one deviation in those laws of physics sends everything out of whack. that implies design. a design implies a designer.
