SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger announced Wednesday he will veto a bill that would have made California the first state to legalize same-sex marriage through its elected lawmakers. He is a better man than I thought.

Just when you thought the Govenator could shake off all the conservative bigotry of the republican party. Especially since he has done such great work on the climate change issue.

As a catholic married man, I remind people that we should "judge not, lest we be judged". Same sex couples should have the same right to be just as "happy" as us heterosexual couples. Half of our marriages end in divorce, what makes anyone think they would be any worse?

All this shows is that he knows where the majority of the money is coming from. If you really think that any politician does ANYTHING based on what they feel is right and wrong that you are dense.
BTW: I still don't see how same sex marriage effects ANYBODY but those that are getting married? not a single person can really answer that question so far. Keep your god out of government and keep government out of your god.

Same-sex marriage should not be legal. Good for Arnold.

Not sanctioning a crime against nature is hardly bigotry.

Arnold Schwarzenegger said that "Gay marriage should be between a man and a woman" So I think this just makes him an idiot.

Arnold's not the brightest man around; he vetoed it because he thought that if he approved he would be FORCED to divorce his wife and marry a man...

Everyone should have civil unions, not marriage. For those that want marriage which was given by God, they can get "married" under a pastor (with a civil union to follow the law). The state could care less who marries you; so it should be civil unions for all.

That doesn't surprise me, Schwarzenegger's done a lot of good things for California, but he's a little too conservative to legalize same-sex marriage.

I wish he would have, though. I think this whole thing is getting blown out of proportion and people should be able to marry who they want.

It's about time that he made a firm commitment against same-sex marriage.
