I just heard about little Alexis Coggins on Paul Harvey.

She was a seven year old girl who jumped between her Mom and convicted felon boyfriend when boyfriend was trying to shoot her.

Alexis was shot six times in the head and neck with a 9 mmP pistol and Mom was hit three times.

Both Alexis and her Mom have survived and will recover.

Any one still think that the 9 mm Parabellum is a great fightstopping cartridge?

Give me a .357 Mag, a .44 S&W SPL, or a .45, LC or ACP!

As I said in the original posting, the child was hit six times in the head and face, including the eye socket area.

Mama was hit in the head, neck and arm.

I've no idea what handgun was used, nor what ammo. I suspect it was FMJ.

A tragic story that could have had a very different outcome. But as you say, it confirms what the military have said all along, "It ain't man enough for the job".

Don't forget the Pope was shot three times at close range in the torso with a 9mm.

Well, that's what was widely reported. The Muslim assassin Mehmet Alì Agca actually used a .32acp pistol loaded with fmj, but the Italian police mistakenly reported it as a .380acp and the gun-illiterate press called it a "9mm handgun" and still do, as do historians writing on the subject.

Some American gun writers have taken this Pope shooting....and living, as a condemnation of the effectiveness of the 9mm Parabellum as a man-stopper.

I'm not questioning the facts of your story, just pointing out that when it comes to reporting what kind of gun is actually used, the press ever rarely get it right.

What were the locations of the hits? Extremities only? He was probably not using JHP.
